Biography

You find yourself wandering the Zephyr Steppes, sighing peacefully as you take in the calm atmosphere. From the cheerful singing of the local birds, to the gentle whisper of the ever-present breeze, causing a nearby stream to ripple as the water traverses the plain, everything here seems designed to soothe your spirit. Your tired wings seem to relive as you settle down in the grassy terrain, deciding to take a rest from your long, long travels.

... Your peace, however, is quickly interrupted as you hear a yell, and before you even have the chance to look up, a green and pink spiral crashes into some nearby bushes, papers flying every which way. The spiral yelps as he chases after his goods, and feeling bad for him, you decide to help him gather up what seem to be maps, descriptions of locations, and other written down trivia.

"So sorry to bother you!" he says, as you return his items to him. "Thank you for your help, though! Would you mind if I sat with you for a while to rest? I've been having quite the day, haha."

Seeing no reason to refuse, you allow the spiral- who introduces himself as Gentian- to sit with you, and he quickly strikes up a conversation, babbling about this and that as spirals like him are wont to do. You don't mind, though, and you eagerly listens as he speaks.

Turns out, the spiral is a collector of information, and knows a lot about a bunch of clans, cities, and other places in Sornieth, ranging from the pupolar to obscure. Curiously, you ask if that's what's on his papers...

"Sure thing!" Gentian says, before reaching into his bag, and pulling out, from what you can tell, a few manuscripts, complete with maps. "would you like to see some? These are as complete as I can make 'em, I'm quite proud of them, y'know!"

Interested, you take what's offered to you, and start to read...
THE PURRING WINDS
WIND CLAN WITH A PENCHANT FOR TAKING IN MISFITS
_____________________________________

A big, semi-popular clan that just kinda... travels all over the place as they see fit. Created by the enigmatic Sparga, who aims to give the outcasts of society another chance at a peaceful life. How well that works out is up for debate, though... there's a lot of weirdos here, that's for sure!

LOCATION

PLACES OF INTEREST
  • The Main Platform: In short, it's the place where the bulk of the clan lives! Its got housing, shops, Zeight's post office, the main plaza... basically anything a dragon needs to live a comfortable life!
  • The Gardens: A bunch of little floating islands that got connected to the Main Platform with ropes, ladders and bridges. As the name implies, The Gardens have, well, the clan's gardens! Flowers and food are grown there, though there's also one bigger garden that has a forest. There's also an island with an old temple dedicated to the Eleven.
  • The Farm: There's a whole farm here! A foursome of dragons keep it running, as far as I can tell. They produce enough stuff here to feed a whole army! Or in this case, a whole clan.
  • House Scutum: It's those Blood Moon Dancers! Well, I'm not sure what they're up to, but those ladies sure can dance, hehe.

ISLE O' HAGS
ISOLATED ISLAND RULED BY WITCHES AND IMBUED WITH STRANGE MAGIKS
_____________________________________

OVERVIEW

LOCATION

PLACES OF INTEREST
  • Spiral Mountain: A mountainous range with a clearing smack dab in the middle of it, which has a large, spiral-shaped rock as a centerpoint (hence the name!). A fairly isolated little place with few inhabitants, who tend to be friendly enough.
  • Cauldron Keep: Home of the infamous witches for which the Isle o' Hags was named. It is basically the centerpoint of the island, and one of the highest points on the Isle o' Hags in general. A high-tech, magically powered base sits in the middle of a poisonous lake, reachable only by a select few.
  • Wooded Hollow: A low, wooded area that sits at the base of Spiral Mountain. A temple dedicated to the island's jiggy artifacts is located here, ran by a priest called "Jiggywiggy" (what kinda name is that?!) and his desciples. It is also home to a secret entrance to a temple dedicated to a long forgotten god of an ancient society. Most of the island's inhabitants live in and around this area.
  • Plateau: Well- it's a big plateau on the island! The main one, anyway. Flora and fauna is scarce here due an incident with the witches' magic, and is generally avoided by most of the population of the isle if they don't need to cross here; it's said to be cursed. The witches' minions roam here by the swarm, anyway.
  • Glitter Gulch Mine: It's a gold mine! A real, old fashioned gold mine! A bunch of inhabitants of the island are employed in it to dig up gold for the witches, and occasionally, jiggies. It is also used to dig up other useful ores, however.
  • Pine Grove: A small grove of pine trees. Not much to say, other than that it used to be a real big pine forest that got demolished in favor of...
  • Witchyworld: A decrepit theme park dedicated to the witches. They mowed down an entire forest just to build it, and it isn't even good! The rides are always busted, and if they're not, they're so dangerous you might as well entertain yourself by jumping off a cliff with your wings tucked in until the last moment. The food is questionable as hell too. Seriously, who hired this staff? Still, it somehow seems to be a semi-popular spot for the locals to spend their days off.
  • Cliff Top: A high-up cliff that, at the very, very bottom, has the ocean crashing its waves into it. It's... very high up though. Very, very high. The flora and fauna here tends to be rather hardy because of the strong winds that plague the area. One of the few spots on the island that has been mostly left alone by the witches- beyond the occasional, expected minion roaming around, of course.
  • Jolly Roger's Lagoon: A lagoon with a small town right next to it, with the titular "Jolly Roger" as the mayor. It's pretty quaint, and rather nice for the most part, though you'd better watch out when entering some of the pools; some of them get used as waste dumps by the witches. Other than that, pretty nice and chill location. Good vacationing spot! Apparently there is also a huge sunken city underneath the lagoon...
  • Wasteland: A desert-like area with sparse but hardy vegetation. Home to a few clans, though they tend to be of the rougher kind. Approach with caution. (Yikes!)
  • Quagmire: A polluted, swampy area that almost certainly used to be a lush forest, but has overtime withered away due the witches' meddling. Pools of toxic waste and a chemical smell permeate the area, with the soggy ground leaving some very dubious stains behind on your hide, if you're not careful. Very little sunshine comes through the dead and dying trees here, the giant shadows of Cauldron's Keep and Grunty Industries looming over the area. H.A.N.C. has also made their base here- but what else would you expect of those weirdos?
  • Grunty Industries: Yep, the witches have a factory. Or rather, Gruntilda has a factory. Where she makes all sorts of dubious stuff. And dumps the remains of her weird creations in the surrounding area, where they inevitably dissolve into the toxic sludge that has poisoned the landscape. Also has pipelines pumping water from Jolly Roger's Lagoon through her systems.
  • Rusty Bucket Bay: A bay connected to Grunty Industries. As you can imagine, it is used to send and receive cargo from around Sornieth that can't be flown in by courier. Constantly patrolled by her minions, as well as magically animated items.
  • Hailfire Peaks: Perhaps one of the most unique locations on the island. It is a pair of connected twin mountains inhabited by two emperors; one who consists of all fire dragons, and the other of all ice dragons. Though they are magically constrained to their respective mountains, their wild magics influences the land, creating an interesting effect where, if you stand on one side of the mountains, it's all fire, lava, and heat, but if you go to the other side, it's all ice, snow, and cold. It's a very jarring place to be, because the temperature shift is sudden and wild.
  • Cloud Cuckooland: The name is apt; it is a floating mountain suuuuper high above the island, with a lot of floating islands connected to it, or hovering around it. The... contents of these islands are often nonsensical, and almost childish in nature, such as the island with the giant pot o' gold, or the island with giant trashcan that has a living can in it. The vegetation here is hostile, with weird eyeball plants ands flowers that just... run around. (ok but was this actually a real place or did I hallucinate it after falling into the weird bubble?! I still can't tell!)
