Mischief in the murk.
"I've got a secret for you," says Umbrys. There's a playful glimmer in her eyes. Against the darkness of your surroundings, you can make out little more than her silhouette, but the mirth in her voice is difficult to misplace.

"I could tell you two secrets, in fact. The first one is partially advice: never trust your shadow. Do you want to ask me why not? You do, don't you? Ask me."

Umbrys stares at you. She waits for a reply. You don't offer one, and she flickers her snake-like tongue at you with impatient distaste.

"It's because it's shady," she says. She waits again.

"Shady," she emphasizes. "Do you get it? Shady? You can't trust your shadow, because your shadow is shady. It's -- oh, come on."

Further silence. You refuse to give her the satisfaction of acknowledging her horrible joke and its horrible delivery. You can hear her tail lashing like an angry cat's.

"Fine," she snaps. You hear the sound of a tome being opened, followed by the ruffling noise of paws flapping through its pages.

"Then here's the second secret: for every secret you don't laugh at, I subject you to another. Strap in, sweetcheeks. There's a whole book of these."
