PERSONALITY & QUIRKS There is no kindness in this vampire’s heart despite her deceivingly innocent mask. Catalina interacts with those that are not hers only for her own benefit and usually it involves blood. Luckily she doesn’t actively seek blood and prefers to lure her prey straight into her claws. Catalina is like a cat in the way she likes to play with her food, something that revolves around clever and elaborate games set up for her amusement. More often than not Catalina will entertain herself for hours coming up with new ways to play with various victims. Catalina is a spirited and narcissistic vampire who cares only for herself and occasionally, her seethe. She is extremely power-hungry and always looking for a way to make her seethe invincible. Catalina can’t be trusted on any level and is more likely to betray than help you. It’s a terrible decision to get on this bloodthirsty vampire’s bad side as her vindictive personality doesn’t allow any room for forgiveness nor remorse. Her manipulative, scheming mind is what both put her in and got her out of Lonewood, and as such cannot be underestimated. ABOUT History Being locked away for only a short time Catalina can still remember her past. She was born into a powerful vampire seethe ruled by her family. Her family is one of the most respected purebreds whose magical strength lies in enchanting and runes. Catalina was taught from an early age to master these magics and high expectations were made of her. She was expected to be the perfect representation for her family even though she wasn’t the heir to the family’s matriarch. Catalina’s fate was to be married off to another purebred to continue her family’s line, something that never bothered her. Even as a child Catalina showed tendencies to play with her food. She actively snuck out when she could to visit the nearby dragon clan and to test out her powers and clever games of sadistic amusement. Catalina would use her power of entrancement to lure an unsuspecting dragon into whatever trap she had planned. Being as small as she was, her victims were often young dragons or hatchlings that could be overpowered if necessary. Her family overlooked her excursions for years until the dragon clan started noticing how certain dragons came home acting oddly, only to disappear only a couple of weeks later. Catalina’s family were quick to lock Catalina up before the resulting vampire hunt could begin. By the time Catalina was locked up she was old enough to be married off to some far away vampire clan. Her family was quick to seize the first marriage proposal, eager to rid of the problematic vampire. Because of this Catalina was married into a small, reclusive purebred family living in the shadows of the Shifting Expanse. Catalina was married to the second son of the family, a strange vampire by the name of Mordecai. Luckily for him Catalina found his morbid hobby of crafting living abominations from parts of various organisms to be amusing and didn’t see much of a problem with Mordecai himself. The two spent little time together after their marriage at first, Mordecai burying himself in experiments and Catalina searching for something to amuse herself. Most of the time Catalina was forced to amuse herself with various creatures instead of dragons as to not draw attention to herself and be punished. Eventually she decided to help Mordecai with his experiments if only to find a new source of amusement. Mordecai’s abominations became a point of focus for Catalina. Their unusual strength and varying magical ability drew her attention and interest. Catalina attempted experiments of her own with these abominations and soon discovered that her familial magic of enchanting enhanced their potential by a thousandfold. It was from there that Catalina’s greed for power became strong. She convinced Mordecai to help her take over his seethe and easily wiped out most of the strongest vampires of the family. Her greed didn’t stop there though. Catalina’s mad rush for power led to her wiping out many vampire seethe and slowly growing her own. Her name soon became a point of fear around Sornieth that hadn’t been seen since much more ancient times. The downfall of Catalina and Mordecai was due to Catalina’s overwhelming quest for power. The pair had overlooked the restlessness and disloyalty of their own seethe under the belief that the vampires were too afraid of them to rebel. This weakness was exploited by dragon clans that allied briefly with the vampires to take down Catalina and Mordecai. They were however unable to kill either of them due to Catalina binding them in a way that would cause their deaths to kill the vampires under their control, as well as animating several abominations that the pair had deemed too dangerous to use. The result was Catalina and Mordecai being locked up in an old prison that was believed to be inescapable based on how many impossible beings had stayed locked up inside of it. Catalina and Mordecai were imprisoned in the same cell in the low security block. The dragons that locked them up also summoned another enfield to guard Lonewood due to the slowly decaying enchantments. Despite Catalina’s skill in the magics the pair would stay locked up inside Lonewood for many more years to pass. It was only when the Sanctuary rediscovered Lonewood did the enchantments weaken enough for Catalina to unravel them long enough for the vampire pair to escape. Currently The vampire pair didn’t travel far from Lonewood and joined the unsuspecting Sanctuary. They learned from their previous conquest for power and their years in Lonewood that they would live better in the shadows. In doing so the pair amassed a small amount of vampires and thralls to once again form their own small seethe. This time though Catalina has no plans to allow those under her rule to betray her and ensures loyalty and dedication through any means necessary. Those that disobey her are swiftly punished and used as examples for the rest. The seethe avoids detection through careful management under Catalina’s iron rule as well as small spells to mask their presence. Catalina now works as an enchanter to make a living. She sells various charms and spells in the Myriad Market with the intent to scout out potential victims and threats. Whenever Catalina isn’t selling or making goods for her shop she’s watching over her small seethe that struggles to thrive in their busy world. Catalina refuses to have hatchlings with anyone other than Mordecai to keep her line as pure as possible. Any hatchlings Catalina has are raised with the same high expectations she had as a hatchlings herself. They’re expected to be skilled in the enchantment and rune magic their mother specializes in, or in the creation of living servants like their father. While Catalina doesn’t show true love to anyone, those in her seethe or a part of her bloodline are considered what she allows to be family. Those considered family are under Catalina’s protection and as such she is swift to avenge or defend them if the need arises. FAMILIAR BACKGROUND/PERSONALITY Not long after escaping Lonewood Catalina discovered a new creature to use in her twisted games. A Swamphaunt Kelpie she later named Bloodhound became a new way to incite fear in prey before Catalina ultimately drained them of blood. Not only do the vampire and kelpie have a symbolic relationship, they relate to each other on a personality level. Their favorite hunt is Ampelope because of its speed and location. SKILLS & HOBBIES Catalina's skills are mainly in enchantment and entrancement magic. She also specializes in coming up with clever schemes and plans, often with the help of her mate. Catalina's hobby is her coming up with new traps and ways to amuse herself. This also includes hunting for stronger prey (dragon or otherwise) as well as ways to improve her games.
