Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this curious guardian wandered a little too far from her home lair (Rvan, 376556), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

Home Lair: Rvan, 376556. Please return to Rvan when you get tired of her!

Rvan, 07/13/2021: Skypainter always like watching the stars with her mother. An astrologist- that's what she would be one day. Until then, however, she could only look up at the stars through a shoddy homemade telescope that her dad had fixed up for her using a variety of magnifying glasses and pipes. If Skypainter had calculated correctly, tonight was an astrological wonder- a comet would be streaking across the night sky. It was no big feat at first glance, but when you took into account that another comet of equal size was hurtling to be at the exact same place at the exact same time as the original comet... it would be a sight to see. Skypainter was already rushing out to find a spot at the top of a high hill near her home. It was a long walk, but before she knew it she was nestled at a spot on the grass staring up at the stars through her 'telescope'.

Minutes went by, but Skypainter was patient. However, when the minutes turned to an hour of sitting in the foreign darkness, a nasty little feeling settling in the pit of her stomach. The comets were tonight, right? She glanced around. Maybe it was time to go home. She was known for running off to stare up at the sky, but her mother always worried for her safety. Skypainter just couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that she was being watched. She took one last glance at the sky, but her heart sank as she only saw the familiar constellations that she knew like the back of her claw. With a sigh, Skypainter grabbed her telescope and turned to leave the hill where she had sat for so long.

"Where are you going, little bird?" Skypainter froze in her tracks. She turned around wildly, eyes seeking for the owner of the deep, raspy voice.

"Who's there?" Nothing. "Who's there?" Skypainter demanded, her panic showing through her voice. She peered at the trees not too far away, but in the dark she was unable to distinguish anything from the brushes and bramble. "I said who's-"

Skypainter's scream was muffled as a hand clasped over her mouth as another arm wrapped around her to pin her in place. "I know what you said," The man, judging by the depth of the voice, whispered into her ear with breath that smelled rotten. "I've been watching you for a while now, little bird, and you never even noticed. Isn't that funny?" The man cackled, shifting his clawed hand upwards- to cover her nose. That was when the real panic set in. Skypainter flailed in the man's suffocating grasp as thoughts raced through her mind- who was he, why was he doing this to her? Was she going to die here, would she never see her parents again? Would tonight be the last night she ever gazed upon the twinkling night sky?

With those thoughts empowering her and adrenaline rushing through her veins as her mind began to get foggy, she slammed her telescope behind her. It connected with scales and skull, her captor yelling out in anger and pain as he let go of her. She didn't let the opportunity go to waste as she took off, darting like a rabbit into the trees. Darkness took over her as she was fumbling through the thick branches and leaves. She felt the man chasing after her like a phantom. She only ran faster, searching for a place to hide, somewhere to go, anyone to help her... there. A small cave, more of a crevice, in the side of a rocky structure. It would be barely enough to squeeze into, but that didn't stop Skypainter from launching herself into it, scraping her wings and scales on the rock as she pressed close to the ground and curled up.

She heard the man's footsteps draw closer. "Where are you little bird?" He called, and Skypainter held her breath. It was only a few moment's later when she saw the figure walking amongst the trees. The only way she could describe him was evil. His expression was pure hatred, and dark blood leaked from the corner of his face where she had hit him with her telescope. She didn't dare move in fear of making a sound, even as he walked out of her vision deeper into the woods. She must have sat there frozen for hours before she slowly crawled out of the cramped space.

Skypainter looked down at her father's telescope to find the glass broken and the metal warped. She just started crying. She had no idea where she was or how to get home, and all she could do was stand there and cry.
