Hermes

Uh-oh, looks like this aspiring writer wandered a little too far from his home lair (#149136, Lirillith), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. If you don't want another traveler in return, he can be sent to his original home via the Crossroads, or sent to this rest hub. You can also adopt him permanently if you don’t want him leaving your lair!

Hermes, the son of a printer and a scavenger, grew up influenced by two drastically different approaches to life. His mother taught him how to sort through discarded and broken items from a flea market to a trash heap to find the ones that might be repaired or repurposed. She taught him how to mend a fishing net and splint a bone, how to barter and haggle and stay hydrated in the desert. His father introduced him to the clan's library and raised him, and his sisters, in a home filled with books, from scrolls to printed volumes and everything in between.

So, armed with survival skills and maybe too many adventure tales, and worried that he'll never experience or write anything interesting if he stays in his cushy hometown, he's setting out. He wants to get some experience in life, see some interesting sights, eat some interesting food (and no doubt some "interesting" food, too) and write about all of it. Traveler's Log:

"There is nowhere to go but everywhere, so just keep on flying under the stars."

Hermes heard of this cool clan that had a beautiful garden for visitors. Seemed like it might be interesting to visit, especially since there was supposed to be a lot of traveling dragons from all over the world there. And sure enough, there were some pretty interesting travelers there. Axolotl, the Caretaker of the Fount of Travelers, was an interesting skydancer, with the wings and body like ice cream, or so the dragon proclaimed. He had flowers growing on his wings, and held himself with a regal posture. There was two circus performers, Eckhart and Razzle. One dragon even had crystals growing from him! There was also this one creepy wildclaw that never spoke but just stared creepily, but Hermes brushed that off. In the end, Hermes learned a lot and put both his survival skills and book skills to good use. He also had some of Axolotl's legendary ice cream! But soon enough he felt the desire to head back out into the world.
