Dreamwalkers are very rare, their mere existence debated. With no definitive way to prove the experiences of the dream-havers and their supposed invaders, it is all too easy for cynics to dismiss the phenomenon as impossible. But Foxglove knows that the sensations she feels when she lulls to sleep are anything but fake. The sensations of touch, the sharp sounds and sights; they’re far too real to be a product of even the most lucid sleeper, especially when her friends approach her, joking and laughing that they had seen her in a dream. To capture her experiences, she’s created a journal. Each time she finds herself in someone else’s dream, she records it; name of the person, if known, what time, and what is occuring. If the dreams are sensical enough, she can learn details about the individual. If they’re nervous over the arrival of a new hatchling, how well their evening hunt went, etcetera. There are, of course, less pleasant dreams, involving gore and tragedy. Foxglove tends to not stick around for those, as they’re typically just hyper-exaggerations of pre-existing fears, too inflated to find out what the actual problem is. The best they’re useful for is a good fright. Foxglove has tried intruding into the dreams of those far away. This has been met with varying success; sometimes, Foxglove can be present for the entirety of the dream, while other times, her surroundings are fuzzy and blurry, or she simply can’t intercept them at all. Even local dealings could come with troubles. Open, laid-back people could easily have their dreams walked in on, while the private and shy never let her in easily, or at all. If anything, the ease in which she could enter someone’s dream did tell her something about their character. But this is more than a fun gift to Foxglove. If she learns to communicate with those in distant lands, to unearth the fears of the powerful and wicked… what would that spell for this world? What if she could manipulate the very fabric of reality itself? |
