Chasm is one of few Nocturnes in the lair. While he's aware of his situation, vaguely, he doesn't see any problem with it. He takes cues from the coatls around him, growing at first frivolous and more recently, quite warlike.

He was once betrothed to a soft-spoken and sickly coatl, over whom he was extremely protective. Despite his comparatively small stature, his displays intimidated a lot of the clan's coatls, at least enough to be kind to him and his mate. But as the rest of the clan, and Chasm, become increasingly aggressive, his mate's condition worsens, and he becomes afraid. Chasm understands when he says he needs to leave, but it bothers him nonetheless.

Now, he channels his frustrations into Hemlock's cause, scouting ahead for their new lair. And if that requires clearing a path through the local beastclans, he doesn't object.

After the clan's resettlement in their new home, Chasm is frequently assigned watch alongside Avery. While he at first begrudges working alongside a dragon who had until recently been useless, he grows to respect Avery's new strength in time. His improvement is a welcome contrast to his previous mate's fragility.
