Amethyst is a studious and practical young coatl. She became one of Bexelia's apprentices shortly after arriving in the clan, and believes that she has a brilliant future ahead of her as a mage. This turns out to be more true than anyone else anticipates. As the clan dives into a long battle, Amethyst's abilities, both offensive and supportive, play a significant role.

She was mated to Moonglow, but resents how weak and useless he is. Despite her resentment, she's also quite endeared to him. She alternates between taking her frustrations out on him and wanting to protect him from everything. As she becomes busier, her hot and cold affections even out- on the cold side. Fed up with her childhood crush, she moves on as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

To her surprise, the next dragon to win her heart has powers almost identical to those of her mentor's nemesis. Suspicious at first, it doesn't take Amethyst long to realize that Amaltheia is no threat to her lair or clan. As her curiosity fades, she moves on once more, this time ending up in a relationship which surprises everyone with its domesticity.
