War wasn't uncommon outside of District eyes. Behind every wall, stowed away under shadow, was greed masquerading as promise. Promise of change. Promise of freedom. No one delivered. Villages were razed. Orphans were left crying in fields of ash. That's where Sheng-Li was found.

Caravans were sent to put out the fires. They offered sanctuary to all children - to return to the land within the walls and be safe. He hid from them.

The only ones to coax him from what was left of the woods were a monastic group that hid deep within the mountains, on their way to the Beacon. He lived with them for many years, until the same raiders that ruined his first home had taken his second. Knowing the monks that held the Beacon in high regard. Sheng-Li set off for the Light Capital to find someone to help him obtain justice for the fallen.
