Monarch is a dragon who moves with the weather. She travels around the world to spend her winters in warmer climates and summers in cooler ones. Monarch enjoys traveling because she gets to see the world and meet new people. Although she will sometimes settle down for a few months with a specific clan, the itch to keep moving will always come back and she’ll begin her journey again. She’s usually a solitary dragon, but if her trip is a long or strenuous one, then she doesn’t mind company.

When Monarch was younger, she idolized Dawnfire, who didn’t quite become a caretaker for Monarch when she found her all alone, but became something close to it. They traveled together for many years, until Dawnfire decided to settle down with a clan. As Monarch grew older, she discovered that there was more strain on her relationship with Dawnfire. They still care for each other, but Monarch sometimes feels resentful that Dawnfire didn’t do more for her when she was younger. They’ve discovered that their relationship is better when Monarch travels. Monarch has the space to become her own dragon, but she can miss Dawnfire and come home to her in the spring before setting off again a few months later.
