Arrived Day 2 - Bought for 8000t
102/200 Stress (Afflicted) Recovering from Death's Door: 2 days Born into a wealthy clan near to the Dusk Sanctum of the Tangled Wood Musard knew a very pampered and well-off life as a hatchling. Approached by a neighbouring clan seeking to secure a bond of trust with her clan the young Guardian was introduced to a boy from the other clan with the hopes that they may fall in love and bind the two clans together fully. Still a child, however, Musard thought it all little more than a game. As they grew older, however, she began to see the charm in her friend, and he in her. When it was realised the two were in a relationship the clans celebrated by building them their own den midway between lairs. Musard and her now mate-to-be settled in quickly, bringing with them plenty of fortune from both families. She noticed his was less in both quality and quantity, wondering simply if they just had different taste in what was considered treasure and so shrugged it off. For many years they lived together happily though not necessarily romantically. Then one day she began to feel the pull of the Search. The first while she ignored it, preferring to remain at home with her mate. In time, however, it became too much. She needed to go, find what it was that she felt the need to travel for. Apologising to her friend she'd set out. Yet her journey was further than she expected, guilt driving her to return home before she was gone for too long. That's when the coughing started. It didn't mean anything at first. A little cough was normal, Musard thought. At the same time the Search was becoming unbearable and she, once again, had to leave. Several times she would get as far as the border of the Shadow lands before returning to reaffirm bonds only to leave again soon after. With help she got further and further, eventually learning what she was looking for lay in the Wind territory. How was she going to explain to her mate that she'd need to leave for so long, possibly permanently? It was on this guilt-ridden return home that she then noticed what had been happening in her absence. It had been small at first, too little to notice. But each day she'd left, each day she'd come back her hoard seemed smaller. Confronting her mate, whose health was also diminishing rapidly, on this he weakly replied that one of his clanmates had died and he needed to pay tribute but lacked anything meaningful and so thought that perhaps she'd understand if her offered their shared riches. Not believing him or his intrusion on her belongings Musard had stormed out again. It was some time before she came back one last time, this time to learn that her mate was dying himself. And her hoard was all but missing. While she'd gone he'd spent her treasure on trying to find a cure for his illness – this was half true as he had done exactly that. But she was able to force out of him that he never loved her, using her to get to her clan's wealth and stealing the hoard to give to his own family. She did not mourn his death. Left alone in a now bare cave with nothing but the clothes she wore. Up until this point her life had been a complete lie, soon learning that her late mate's clan had been trying to worm into hers to benefit from their wealth. Their friendship had been false, orchestrated so that she believed it were true. He'd been well trained, that was for sure. Kept from going on her Search, slowly being driven insane from the desire, and now all this... something in her snapped. With a malicious grin and a subtle cackling Musard exchanged her gown and jewellery for commoner clothes and digging equipment. He hadn't completely lied about his clanmate dying either – indeed he had stolen her gold and gems to pay tribute. It was now buried in a crypt that his clan lay their dead to rest – where he now lay – just waiting to be reclaimed. In the dead of night, using her potent magic to hide her advance Musard broke into the crypt and robbed the rival clan of all their, and her, riches and fled to the Windswept Plateau to resume her Search in earnest. |
