Biography
It came in the night, when we were all awake.
A silent scream, but we all heard it - felt it.
A mother's egg came out wrong.
That was only the start of it.
Though she may seem a little young for he job, Toula is the mayor of Tide's Edge. She is a friendly and welcoming presence in the town, and spends a lot of time flying overhead just to see if they have any visitors - Toula always wants to be the first to greet them, and she often is. Though she would like to volunteer to be the one retrieving materials for the town, Toula is tied to Tide's Edge by her responsibility to take care of it - perhaps now more than ever.
The recent outbreak of a plague has Toula more worried and on edge than ever, despite her attempts to remain a calming presence. The plague is affecting eggs and hatchlings - on eggs, a barely percievable webbing pattern appears just underneat the shells, and the eggs have an unnaturally smooth, slightly slimy texture. Once hatched, the hatchlings are weak, and often smaller than expected. Some refuse to eat, some need help breathing, and some hatch in a deep slumber - alive, but barely conscious. After some time the hatchlings regain some of their energy, but are not the energetic children their parents expect. At first this was written off as a personality trait in some, but after several hatchlings came out with similar symptoms, Toula knew there was a bigger problem.
She tried to calm down the parents. The children were surviving, after all, weak as they were - so there was no need for panic. At least not yet. Still, it was concerning - and with more and more cases popping up, the worse it got. A healer arrived from somewhere far off, and that was enough to put many parents at ease, knowing their children were taken care of - but the healer brought with her more questions. Is the disease contagious? Does it stem from the parents? Can it spread to the parents?
Toula had no answers.
She spends as much of her time as she can now trying to find answers. Despite knowing nothing about the topic, she has spent countless hours researching and finding out what she can. She has requested her fellow dragons venture to other towns to ask for information, but she dares not leave herself. If she left the town and something horrible happened, she would never forgive herself.
Toula's family has been taking care of this town from its creation many years ago. Though she was a democratically elected mayor, her father, grandfather, and great grandmother were leaders of the town before her. Her ancestry was, of course, and obvious reason to elect her - but that doesn't discount her dedication to keeping people safe and happy. She has always been known for her caring personality. She knows the names of each of her town's people, and she stops by everyone's homes periodically to check in on them. She is well liked for this.
