You first meet odalia in the arena when you first enter the labyrinth. But you’ve seen her many times. Before certain challenges you hear her announcing like some kind of sports announcer. Sometimes she’ll show up and you can trade things you’ve scavenged for supplies. You think she is some kind of… god? She’s everywhere, and seems to navigate the labyrinth effortlessly. You begin to hate her more and more as time goes on. She seems to be toying with you. Taunting you during fights and changing passages so you go where she wants.
You reach a dead end. This is surprisingly the first time that has happened. You collapse to the ground in tears. When you entered you were a happy young soul. Now you are battered and broken by this maze. You don’t even know how long it has been. You look up to see odalia. When you entered you hated her. But now she is more of a friend. “I don’t know why the labyrinth chose me as it’s host” she starts “and I don’t know why it puts people through this. But I won’t let you die. Your the only one who made it this far… your the only one who’s ever cared for me…” “what?…” you respond. “Good bye… I will miss you…” you eyes widen as you realize what she means “NO!” She has told you before why she couldn’t just ‘let you go’…. “NO! ODALIA!” Everything goes black. You wake up in a meadow. Behind you is the cave you first crawled in. You run in and frantically search for odalia. You find a note. “I’m sorry but this is as far as I could get you… please don’t come back… I will miss you… I’m so sorry.” Tears run down your face. Your free… but the price for said freedom was something you considered irreplaceable.
The newcomer asks again about the labyrinth. “How did you survive?” They ask. “ I didnt. She did.” “Who is she?” “Odalia. The host” “if I went in, would she save me too?” “No… she is gone…” “what?” “She gave her freedom for me. She let herself become the mazes… permanent host.” A single tear runs down your cheek. “She gave up everything for me. And I will never forget her.” You can almost hear her teasing you for such a comment. A sad smile crosses your face. “But she would want me to be free. She would want me to live on.” You shake your head “that is why I didn’t go back… though sometime I wish I did…. Sometimes I wish she was free… I wish… I could take her place.”
