Biography
☾ S E R A P H I M ☾
"Ugh, have you heard?" a fae whispered to the bogsneak next to it, its fans curled back in dissatisfaction, "the owners hired one of those Blood Moon Dancers."Quiet | Mischievous | Calm ━━━◇━━━
"our targets are spineless cravens, ladies, so be sure to get in real close before giving them the red smile. i don't tolerate mistakes. " — colette, the first head
"How is that a problem? I've seen their shows before," the bogsneak murmured back, "they're very good. I can't say I've ever been disappointed by one of their shows." "Right, right, but here's the thing," the fae bit out, "today's dancer is from before those guys even established houses. In other words, an old man." "That's a bit disconcerting," the bogsneak huffed, "if that's true, then their quality must be dropping. A shame." "It's maddening," the fae said, "I paid good money to see this show, only to hear that it's like this. Wasted money, if you ask-" "Shut it already," the bogsneak cut off the fae, the lights on the stage flickering on, "it's beginning." The fae's fans startled into a display of annoyance, before settling back to neutral, not saying anything as a coatl slowly descended upon the stage. For a moment, all was still, almost like everyone was holding the breath in anticipation... before the music started. And the coatl danced. |
Brutally difficult moves spun together into graceful, eye-catching steps. Even a layman could recognize that the coatl was performing on a skill level higher than most performers that made their way onto the little stage of the tiny theater. Candles floated around him, supported by magic, leaving behind flaring trails of smoke that managed to accentuate the flow of the dance even more. The dancer's eyes remained closed the entire time, as if he didn't even need to see where he was going; like he already knew his every move was perfect, not a step out of line. The music played and played, and the coatl danced and danced. Nobody dared even speak, for the fear of interrupting the beautiful, graceful creature onstage. Abruptly and finally, the music came to a halt, and the coatl finished the dance, head bowed forward and wings raised up high, showing off the shimmering purple lit up by the candles. Neither the fae nor the bogsneak dared comment, their eyes only on the now finished dancer, whose eyes finally opened. A striking cyan met the magenta of the coatl and the bogsneak, both their breaths taken away... before a small, almost unnoticable smirk appeared on the coatl's face. Then, as soon as it registered for the duo, it was gone, and the crowd exploded into applause, the coatl slowly making his way off of the stage. Neither the fae nor the bogsneak dared say anything for the rest of the evening. |
An older dragon who isn't too fond of speaking out loud, not because he wants to be contrary, but simply because he sees no need. Seraphim is a bit of an enigma even to his fellow dancers, older than even the first head of the first house, yet choosing to serve under one of the newer heads. He is decidedly more skilled than most of the other dancers, his age acting like boon rather than something that holds him back. It's clear that he's practised for longer than many of them have been alive, and does it ever show. Seraphim doesn't complain when people assume that he can't dance well because he's old. He lets them talk, lets them assume... only to blow anything they've ever seen out of the water with his dances. He won't confront them verbally... but oh, they will know how wrong they are. Will they ever know. When he does speak out loud, it is in short, one-worded sentences. If he can help it, he won't speak at all. The most anyone has ever heard him say was when he asked Marleigh to serve as one of her male dancers, and even that was a brief affair. Seraphim can often be seen around the imperial twins, Indri and Adri. There are rumors that he once had an affair with Colette, the head of the first house... but he won't confirm nor deny them. |
