A doctor must be able to distance himself from his patients. If he gets emotionally attached, then he will either be hurt when the patient dies, or he will worry endlessly about their well-being after they’re discharged.

It was a little boy that broke him. He should’ve been in and out; a broken leg should be easy to fix. But infection set in, and the boy didn’t last long.

The doctor wandered the halls for weeks, even after he was fired for being distracted. His hollow gaze scared the patients and even the staff to the point that he was banned from the hospital. He wandered for years, running from guilt, chasing lost memories, and battling monsters that nobody else could ever understand.

He’s still fighting.
