Blood was never understood. No one realized something was wrong. No one ever listened. No one payed attention. Blood was neglected, left alone to fend for herself.

Blood did more than fend for herself. She taught herself to use a knife, and used it mercilessly.

Blood learned to kill.

Blood found the ones who had left her. Her family. She never knew the meaning of the word. Blood drew her namesake. The screams meant nothing to her.

Blood found others. She let the interesting ones live, but killed many. The survivors never knew how lucky they were.
They never knew they were survivors.

Blood found many dragons living together. Blood let them live. They were interesting. Blood lived with them. The more she learned, the more interesting they got. She was angry a few times, at a few dragons, but she knew if she killed them that the rest would leave her to fend for herself again.

She didn't want that. So Blood was nice. She didn't kill anyone. The Clan didn't kick her out. It worked perfectly.
But sometimes Blood could feel her knife singing out for her namesake, that red liquid that flowed when she plunged her knife into the necks of those who enraged her.

Blood met a spiral. He was very interesting. He was obsessed with the color that looked just like her namesake. She liked him. She thought he liked her back. Blood let him live, and not just because the Clan didn't like dead things.

One day, the Clan said that she was a leader of dragons that were the color of her namesake. They said she could fight.

Blood understood it to mean she could kill whoever she wanted, exept for the ones of her namesake's color.
She would have started right away, except she found it hard to believe that the Clan wanted dead things now.

Blood waited.
