We fight them back. We give our strength as best as we can to keep them away. They seeped into the world by recklessness, and now we must attempt to fix as much as we possibly can until our final breath. We will not fail; we cannot fail. So much is resting on our shoulders now.
But brother, shouldn't we request assistance? There's only so much we can do on our own, and the threat isn't just here. . .it's spreading everywhere around the entire realm. You know what we've been through already. . . .
We can't. It's much too large of an oath to keep for anyone we've met. All who we've passed don't look strong enough. They don't look fit enough. They need muscle, scars, anything that could tell us they've been through enough to prove it.
Good gosh. . .but what if we're just bad at seeing it? Or they're fantastic at hiding it? We'd never know unless we try!
We do this to keep them safe, to ensure dragons can't be harmed by those beasts.
But. . .we'd be harmed. . . .others who do what we do will get harmed. . . .
. . .we ensure those beasts can't harm as many as we can protect. . . .
Do you know how difficult it is to fight them? They claw and bite, digging their massive talons and jaws into our skin so deeply; they inflict such harmful poison-like pain into the wounds; they hiss and cackle without a thoughts, salivating to eat a dead corpse of us. They want this everywhere, to everyone and everything so eagarly; they hunger to devour our world, taking us with it and digesting it in the vast stomach of fatality.
There's a harrowing future without us, nor the others who sacrifice everything they possess, including their sanity, just to keep them at bay. The Shaded monsters dripping into our world may soon find easier ways of surviving, taking anything they desire, controlling whatever they can get a hold of.
Sometimes, even another living being.
We fend off these transmogrifications of dragonkind and creatures alike with what we can offer. All our strength and focus revolves around these things, caring not for anything else. We must do whatever it takes to keep them away.
We must take drastic measures to ensure they cannot return.
