Melda, as soon as she hatched, had a vision of a pale dragon of ice, surrounded by darkness. The dragon was frantic, both fleeing and chasing the darkness. The shadows... almost seemed alive. Melda took this vision to be a prophecy and escaped from her cavern to the Tangled Wood, where she serves Chell with nothing less than absolute loyalty. |

Melda, born of earth yet imbued with arcane magic, was near-bursting with energy at birth. She too had seen a dragon she felt she needed to protect, but she knew nothing of this dragon. Only that she was somewhere dark, and was chasing some unseen foe.
The moment she hatched, Melda took a few seconds to assess her surroundings. Many of her other siblings had already hatched and the cave was slowly emptying. Melda took no chances and darted past fumbling dragons. She was soon out into blinding light, dizzy but panic-filled, she took off into the sky. Desperate to find where her foreseen dragon was and if she was okay.
It didn’t take Melda long to stumble into shadow territory- recognising the surroundings as similar to that in her vision. With renewed urgency she ducked and weaved through the brambles, constantly getting tripped and smashing into trees.
She suddenly saw a vision, through another dragons eyes, of a creature unlike one she’d ever being told of. Trapped yet still terrifying to be in the presence of. She blinked out of the sight and then felt a strong pull, and instinctively followed it till she landed in the clearing amongst surprised dragons.
After a few moments of gaining her breath, she blurted out
“Where’s Chell?”
Ever since, Melda has been a Royal Guard to Queen Chell. She is always weary of The Beast The Night Alone Sees, and is very adamant that it should be slain. She refuses to leave Chell’s side, and is constantly praying that Chell forgoes her ice-dragon duty and returns to the ice fields, far from the beast’s wrath should it escape again.
