She could have killed you in one well-placed swipe, but it wouldn't have been worth it. The blood that pools beneath your head wouldn't be worth the effort of stepping through. Better to maim and move on, leaving what is left of you to trespass another day.
Many, many dragons have crossed her and lived to tell about it. But those who do find themselves shaken, haunted by nightmares, and the kiss of claws that they cannot escape, no matter how far they run.
They will reappear in your dreams, and every night will be crimson.
Far better to simply be killed, you say. Far better to simply sleep, and have the pain end.
