a tomb from the second-age, opened by the aftershocks of the great furnace's eruption, interrupting the protective seals on the niches

the earthshaker was considered a dead god, as he had not been seen since the first age, and lifted not a finger to protect his dragons from the other deities . . . but even the dead could stir in their sleep. a spark of life magic and a dead person with bones ripe for the taking, with the form of a dragon wrapped around it.

this was how dragonkind was made, even if it was by errant elemental magic.

the pillarquakers watched in awe, as the delicate spider-web of brown earth magic set itself around the bones. the person was long dead even in the height of the second age, their bones worn and laid flat in the dust. but agonizingly slow, in fits and starts, the bones were pulled back together, their marrow already living, flush with blue life-magic

- okay so there's NO WAY that the pillarquakers can keep a secret between them
- so the hunters found out about the corpse thing immediately & told the holyhealers, who intercepted her the second she became conscious
- so she, being 'born' as an adult, was able to get her bearings at the lair while she learned how to walk and read and stuff

- the holyhealers didn't let word of her reach the ruins, so she never became a public spectacle

- her curiosity on where she came from led her back to godsgrave
- the pillarquakers even set aside the few items found in her tomb* for her
- also has a teeny tiny ongoing identity crisis
- 'your body: was it ever yours alone?'
- meaning this being her second life AND everyone trying to get that life magic in her

*her tomb was like. a indent in the side of a cliff. like i don't think you could stand upright in it. she had pottery and clay/glass bead jewelry on her

- her subelemental magic is life magic
- half the reason everyone's okay with her living with the pillarquakers, since her marrow is worth it's weight in gems & all those mages can defend/train her
- life magic is what the deities use to well, create life

- the pillarquakers, very aware of what she is, kind of treat her with kid gloves instead of involving her with the normal infighting they normally do
- most dragons have a negative/cautious view of the pillarquakers, especially because they're pretty separate from the rest of the clan
- but she sees them at their best instead of like . . . 'problem mage throwing fireballs at people #7'

- frequently wanders from godsgrave to nearby towns, freely offering up her powers, healing sick sheep, making fields flourish, making orchards bear fruit
- pillarquakers are selfish with their magic in general, so she's going again them in like . . . young dragon being rebellious style. not her being generous due to idealism, this is her unhealthily giving her magic before it can be taken
- they're right, it's genuinely unsafe for her to be walking off on her own especially if she's being Obvious about it
