The first obelisk dragons, the ones found hidden beneath the earth, were carved using stone from all over Sornieth, with the stone's origin determining their element. One such dragon, Mira, was made of moss agate gathered from the Viridian Labyrinth, imbuing her with nature magic; why, then, she chose to join a non-nature clan is a mystery even to her. Mira is an intelligent, observant dragon with a great deal of patience; she can sit still for long periods of time even when she's not in her statue form, and this ability combined with her watchful gaze makes her an excellent guard. She watches over the village at night, taking whichever post Bismarck and Hood don't want, and although she doesn't talk much her presence is more than welcome. ྿ The stone dragons wandered the cavern, introducing themselves to the countless miners in an effort to find a suitable clan to join, and although Mira was no exception few dragons approached her. She was too quiet, she supposed, but really, how was she supposed to know how to interact with others right off the bat? She'd only just assumed her flesh-and-blood dragon form for the first time, after all. She'd never spoken before; wasn't it unfair to assume she knew how? "Excuse me, miss," a voice said, and Mira whirled around in surprise. A large, shaggy dragon with graying fur stood before her, a pickaxe strapped to his back. He smiled as they made eye contact, dipping his head out of respect, and then added, "do you need a clan to join?" Mira nodded wordlessly, and the stranger smiled once again. "Well," he said, "Cobweb and I haven't found an obelisk who wants to join us yet. I'm Wilber, by the way. And... Cobweb is somewhere around here. The little rascal just can't stay in one place." Mira nodded again, and then she decided to try speaking. "I... am Mira," she managed to reply, voice quiet and uncertain. Wilber nodded and then turned to face a small, snakelike dragon who had just come writhing through the air to hover in front of him. This dragon, it turned out, was Cobweb, a young explorer who had accompanied Wilber to the mines; he, too, was friendly, and Mira decided she liked him quite a bit. She liked both of them, really. They seemed very kind, albeit in different ways, and she figured that whichever clan they were from must be alright with that sort of friendliness. That seemed ideal, she decided. "I will go with you," she said finally. "Please, lead the way to your home." |
