Farenine was born not to nobility but royalty, destined at birth to be a queen among dragons. The grand scale of her future attracted some unpleasant attention, and before she reached maturity, she was severely cursed, bonded at the soul to an otherworldly being. Her parents, scared of what other effects her curse might bring, cast her out shortly after. The shock of going from heir to the throne to heir of nothing rattled Farenine, but did not discourage her. Now on a path of vengeance, she bides her time among the Polareis clan, plotting ways to reclaim the throne that is rightfully hers.

Distanced from the country of her origin, she nonetheless keeps tabs on her family via correspondence with a lesser noble by the name of Belfast. She knows well that his motives are suspect, but having no other choice, she patiently waits for his letters.

So it is a surprise to her when he shows up in person. Angry at first that he would leave his post, she discovers that he was cast out for his allegiance to her. And while Farenine shows remorse for little, if anything, she does take her responsibilities seriously. Renewing her vows to retake the throne, Farenine now knows that her destiny is not hers alone.
