"Rock on, Gold Dust Woman."
She likes to stand in the rain as it falls in the setting sun, a sundance of golden gemstones scattering across the gold-swept stretches of the Heavensward prairies. She likes the smell of it, the water mixing with the dry earth and grass, sending out plumes of delicious petrichor to hang heavily and clot in the air. Look here now, at the flowers that sit in vast spans of cream, lilac, rose and peridot. Look up at the clouds as they make a painter's landscape that would bring even Da Vinci to his knees under the orange sky and the peach-coloured moon that sits there.
In these moments of quiet awe and worship she is fragile; but the bison and the wild horses give her a wide birth. She is still a dragon, and a Valkyrie one at that. Arguably the most powerful now that Mercy had fallen into the lap of some higher fate beyond their more mortal understandings.Her eyes, such an intensely bright blue, sparkle and shimmer with a golden light, betraying the power within her. Suddenly, her head tilts as if listening and within one great movement she snaps open her incredible wingspan and leaps into the sky. A violent roar from her throat echoes across the landscape and the moment of peace and fragility is now gone, being replaced with moments she knows best: moments of victory made in golden fire.
