Born during the legendary Dustcarve Dig that unearthed the Obelisk dragons, Gio has ties close to the earth despite being a dragon of Plague. Still a very young and energetic dragon, she knew her career pursuit should be connected to Earth somehow, which led to her becoming a jeweler and working alongside the outfitter, Opal, after watching Irie appraise and cut gems. Now Gio can cut gems expertly, actually using the corrosive properties of her rotting Plague magic to make some of the cleanest cuts and shapes any dragon can find in refined gems.

Dragons from all over Sornieth came to contribute to the Dustcarve Dig, and residents of The Clan of the Wounded were no exception. Resident Earth dragons and experts of their elemental trades Irie and Seed left for the weeks it took to dig to add their assistance and return with anything interesting the guild allowed them to keep. Who knew one of those things could have been an egg? Yes, while assisting in tunneling, Seed stumbled across something he initially assumed to be a jade, or perhaps an emerald, embedded in the wall he was digging through. In truth, it was a Plague egg that had somehow made it so far underground and remained petrified in stone until Seed and Irie freed it! There were many other eggs like this that other dragons were discovering, to boot, so Velya allowed the lot of them to keep the uncovered eggs. From there, Gio was born into The Clan of the Wounded and oftentimes loved to bother Irie and Seed into telling her the spectacular story of her birth/discovery again. She is deeply fascinated by her origins and thinks that, despite being a Plague dragon, she must have some kind of special connection with the Earthshaker and wants to discover any gifts that connection may have given her.
