STORY OF THE WHISPERER

ACT I - silence

Muramasa was born to a beautiful dragon pair living in a witch coven full of heart eating kitsune dragons. Its childhood was a happy one up until the moment it was supposed to start talking. It didn't. Everyone thought that Muramasa was just a late bloomer but when it had reached the age of ten and still hadn't started talking, it just wrote on the ground or walls, a few coven elders came into the picture. When asked by the elders why wasn't it talking, Muramasa wrote with blood on the ground that it didn't feel the need to speak nor had it ever really tried to. The coven elder said that this had most likely something to do with Muramasa's soulmate. What the core reason was, nobody knew anymore than the elders but they let Muramasa's silence continue. As it grew older, while it had yet to speak or even whisper anything, the coven thought Muramasa everything it was to know about being a heart eater witch. They taught Muramasa the arts of staying hidden, who were the best victims and who it was not supposed to eat; its soulmate. They also taught it how to know its soulmate, their name, appearance and gender. What they didn't teach Muramasa was -in its opinion- the most important thing; its soulmates location and this was the bane of Muramasa's existence as he began to search far and wide for Kouga. It took years of work -and all for naught- only for it to, in the end, be found by Kouga himself.

At the brink of Muramasa's early adulthood, the coven was destroyed. Every single member hunted down by something Muramasa had no knowledge of. He'd been sleeping so silently that whatever took down the coven hadn't seen nor heard it. Muramasa stayed on its coven home for the next ten years in silence and solitude, only leaving to eat every now and then to the nearest clans of dragons. It didn't need that much hearts now that it was alone so the villagers were not that aware of its presence. However, one of the clans noticed it earlier and send one dragon to its home. Whether it was to kill Muramasa or to be its meal, the kitsune dragon did not know but when it saw the dragon, Muramasa couldn't believe its eyes. It had been drinking the blood of one of its latest victims from a glass goblet when it'd turned around only to see him. It was Kouga, Muramasa's soulmate. "My love! You've finally found your way to me!" It shouted for the first time in its life but to Muramasa's surprise, it was still only a whisper that came out of its mouth. There was something weird in Kouga's reaction to it and Muramasa could not quite place what it was. After he had left, Muramasa began keeping track of its precious soulmate. It wouldn't let him get lost this time.
ACT II - glass hearts
Muramasa did keep track of Kouga for a while without his knowledge; what he did, how he acted and who he interacted with. It was all done out of pure curiousity on Muramasa's end. And then it found out that Kouga was half-deaf. This one was supposed to be its soul companion, its sole source of love? Well, color Muramasa impressed; it had always thought that its soulmate was to be someone...ordinary, someone weak and boring. But no. In Muramasa's mind it took immense power and strenght of character to be able to go on as Kouga had with all of the outcasting and neglect his clan did for him. Muramasa fell for Kouga's power. And it wanted that all to itself. Their coven would be undefeated. When Muramasa had figured out the grave seriousness of all Kouga's clan had recently done to its soulmate, it was a game over for the clan. Muramasa was furious that Kouga had been so badly treated and swore that in Muramasa's care he would really thrive. They truly would be the most powerful pair and their coven would be so protected by Kouga. The two of them would rule it together and Muramasa would teach the veilspun all it knew. This -their rule- would be glorious, mark its words. With these visions in mind it held up a few of its witch dices -its inheritance from the late coven members- and let them roll to decide who'd be the first ones of Kouga's clan to get the honors of meeting Muramasa. They rolled and the answer was clear. Kouga's parents were to be the lucky ones; it would seem so... This decision, however lead to Kouga being imprisoned when the veilspun went and told the clan elders of Muramasa's deeds. The elders had blamed Kouga, seeing this as an opportunity not to be passed.

Muramasa decided to come in contact with the clan elders after continued terrorisation of the clan and had tried to bribe the elders into releasing Kouga, without any progress. Finally, Muramasa had had enough. It got rid of the elders, ending their games once and for all, and marched inside Kouga's prison dungeons. It was carrying a just picked, fresh heart full of blood while stepping into the dungeons and stopped right outside of its soulmate's cell. This caught Kouga's attention. It began: "As you don't seem to hear me, FOR SOME REASON! I will have you know my NAME AT LEAST!" It shout-whispered, still furious at all Kouga had had to go through with the now-dead elders, and began writing its name on the stone wall with the blood from the heart on its hand. Muramasa. That was what now read on the wall when it was done. It turned back towards Kouga and made sure that he knew this was its name. At that point Muramasa could probably have freed its soulmate, but Muramasa decided that this moment did not feel like what it had once seen in its predictions. It would free Kouga later. It was Muramasa's destiny. As was Kouga's to wait. Its soulmate would be safe here, away from the wrath Muramasa was about to unleash on Kouga's pathetic excuse of a clan. It took a few steps to get closer to the prison bars where Kouga was on the other side. Muramasa put its hands through them. Then it gently took a hold of Kouga's face. "I'll come and free you, once the time is due. Just call for me. You'll know when." It said making its words clear so that Kouga could read from its lips. When Kouga seemed to get what Muramasa was trying to say, the kitsune dragon turned around and left.

Once Muramasa was done with Kouga's traitor clan, none of it was left for it to even be called a clan anymore. It felt rightful, like it had accomplished a great feat. Then came the time when all ancients disappeared and Muramasa, too, was forced to retreat to its empty coven. This did pose a problem for it as now Muramasa could not go back to Kouga. However, it was sure that Kouga would still be safe. Time waddled on in hiding and for Muramasa it was agony. However, it was sure that it would be allowed to leave as soon as it would hear Kouga's calls. The calls it never heard. The reclusion made it think; what if Kouga would never call it? Would Muramasa's world go back to the silence it was before? The heart eater worried, walking in circles around its hiding place. Years later it saw light in this eternal darkness when it came to its attention that the ancients were starting to re-emerge. Estatic, Muramasa left its coven but not before ensuring that this home would be perfect for Kouga and it to live in. It got out of its hiding place and hurried back to Kouga. And there, in the darkest corner of the jail, Kouga still lied. He was thin as a tree twig and was barely breathing. Muramasa picked him up easily and took him out of his prison. When the veilspun came to soon after, he was furious. It couldn't even blink before Kouga was already hitting it to the ground in anger. Muramasa was confused. Why would he be angry? Muramasa was here to help him! "Kouga! It's me! Muramasa! Why are you like this?" It tried to make sense of this situation but didn't get too far as it lost consciousness. The last thought on its mind was that Kouga had discarded it like an old toy! Nothing could hurt its cannibalistic heart more.

ACT III - broken weapon
After waking up and tracking Kouga down, Muramasa started following him like a lost puppy on the veilspun's journey. He ate all the clan villages empty on their way and when Kouga eventually figured out that he was being followed, Muramasa confronted the male. It fell to the ground on its knees before Kouga, looking to hold his hand and said as loudly as it could. "I forgive you after all this time you made me suffer and wait in silence before this all. But that's what you must have felt too, in the dungeons. And for that I am forever apologizing." It sighed truly feeling this. "I have a home for us. The coven..." Muramasa swallowed and looked up to Kouga with hooded eyes, continuing. "I...am in love with you." The creature was for some reason expecting Kouga to do like he always did; to not react in any way, because he wouldn't of have been able to hear anything Muramasa had said anyways. But he surprised Muramasa by scoffing with a disgusted frown on his face. Then he just left, leaving Muramasa on the ground kneeling with an even more sad expression on its face. What had it gone and done again? If Muramasa had just kept its mouth shut, Kouga wouldn't have left, probably for good now. It should have waited and waited 'til Muramasa would have gone mad, like everyone at home had predicted long ago. Muramasa folded over its knees and in its heartache shed a few tears on the flowering ground.
