Deephaze arrived in the wetlands third, and the funny part is that no one remembers how they got here. No one except them, that is, but they are a tight-lipped sort. Asking how they ended up in the Viridian Labyrinth is more likely to provoke a knowing smile and long silence than anything.

However she got here, Deephaze is integral to the clan by now. Her spiritual inclinations may not be shared by every dragon, but her medicinal advice is sought after, and her long, almost sermon-like tales of ritual exploits are a fascination for adults and hatchlings alike.

Deephaze does a little bit of everything when not engaged in research or ritual- gardening, fighting, political squabbling, healing. But asking him for direct answers on where any of his passions spring from is a great way to call back that quiet, knowing stare.

Deephaze is almost as influential as Magma or Icicle in the workings of the clan- anyone with eyes can see how easily he influences other dragons. Even those who do not believe in his mysticism are happy to listen to his cryptic advice.

Their motives are just as clouded as their past. Sometimes, a newcomer will ask why everyone trusts such a secretive dragon so much, and the rest of the clan will shrug and say, "That's just Deephaze. You'll realize soon."

But it is hard not to wonder if those newcomers are onto something.
