HARMONY
Sage of Song |

I N F O R M A T I O N
Ah, the Great Sage Harmony; kind, calming, charming, respectful, loyal, intelligent, masterful, manipulative, controlling… wait a moment. Harmony is not what she seems at all, and many don't understand this until it is too late. She hides her motives behind a smile and motherly love and respect, and slowly but surely takes the minds of others with her voice and singing. Her infamous song, "Her Serenade", is commonly hummed or sung by her and her puppets, and those under her influence are said to be a part of her "choir". Oh, but she wasn't always this way! What changed her happened thousands of years ago; her mother had cursed her lyre, the instrument that gave her her elemental magic abilities. Her mother had done this because of her hatred for the use of elemental magic in battle, and deemed it as "making the fight too easy". Harmony's mother had done this after Harmony had saved her home of Shimmerfrost from a monster, and as the sage was earning her reward: being unable to age. The curse was simple. When Harmony was not with her instrument, the curse would slowly drive her insane, forcing her to take control of and kill others to retrieve the lyre. This mind control was called her "melody", and her victims were programed to "spread" it. As her lyre had gotten within her grasp, she would snap out of it, returning to her normal, sane state. She would finally hear the screams and cries of those she had taken control of, and unable to handle them, frees nearly all of her victims. The key word is nearly, because one of her own children is permanently affected, no matter how hard Harmony attempts to let one of her beloved daughters free. Due to this, her daughter, Josie, ended up being corrupted, and earned a much darker, demanding... bloody form. |

All of that, just for one, sentimental instrument. All of the war, pain, famine. All of the thoughts of those she had taken advantage of. All of the screams of pain, fear, and agony. All of the blood she had caused other to shed for her... All of that, for a simple object. Everything, for a lyre. Her usual smile had wilted away, her eyes dull and cold like the whirling snow that surrounded her. There were no signs of her footprints as snow made sure to cover every speck of earth and change in it's icy dust. She would have silenced the storm with a quick stroke of her lyre, but she couldn't. She had not a single idea of what else that witch could have done to it. She hissed at the thought of truly not being free of her curses, her influence, her morals. Harmony might be viewed as sadistic, but she knew she had every right to imprison her; her own mother. A frozen sculpture came into view, icy vines with thorns surrounding the icy prison. Her mother laid frozen inside it, in a withered position. Blue feathers surrounded her arms and head, as if the Skydancer was being transformed into a gryphon before she was frozen solid. The vines had grown somber red roses, ice flowing over the petals. It was just how Harmony had left it. Ever since hundreds, maybe even thousands, of years ago when she had trapped the witch she called a mother in here, leaving her to be frozen for eternity. She had gone out of her way to make sure not a single soul, or even soulless being, in existence could set her free except Harmony. She glared into her mother's eyes, which were still flowing with pain; she hated that she smiled at the sight. "Well then, mother. Did you enjoy yourself?" she said, crossing her arms around her lyre. "You were always a deceiver, weren't you? Having the tendency to curse your own daughter." She strummed a string of her instrument, causing the thorns that surrounded the sculpture to grow larger and dig deeper into the ice, the roses earning a blood red tint. "You truly are a witch. You deserved everything you've been put through. I wish I could simply blame my insanity on being unable to age. Yet... the one object I held dear was the cause of it." She let everything she had done herself course through her head once more. "Yet... I had gone too far. It's too late to stop. Everything they had done to try and stop me would then be in vain." "So, you hear me? I shall continue, but not for your sake. I shall continue... to make them the hero. I will be the villain until the end. I may not live after this endeavor, so there's a little happiness for you." She turned her back to the statue, the snowstorm growing more fierce. "I hope to see you in hell, mother." |

A beautiful song
laced with rage, insanity
it's hardly caged
the mage's song weaves through your head
it's the only thing you'll hear again
the dark wisp of her past
a bitter-sweet happiness she can't get back
of all the wounds inflicted on her youth
the biggest one being the lyre
it's unholy curse burning like fire
Family gone
forever in trance
the scars on daughters will never fade
painful reminder
like it happened yesterday
Zombies to last generation's mistakes
kills and maims those in it's way
but here I sit
kept in my mind
while those who I know
are bound to die
as their spirit is free,
too free perhaps
to let their limp forms fall into my crazed lap
a deceitful dragon trapped in ice
encased in eternity
torn from life
at the end nothing is changed
I will keep being the villain
as was intended by fate
laced with rage, insanity
it's hardly caged
the mage's song weaves through your head
