Oreades was born as a descendent of mighty hunters and investigators of the supernatural. He was also born as something a little more than a normal dragon. Being a descendent of the Autumn Court, he has increased magic abilities and the ability to see beyond the veil and into another world. As a young hatchling, this strange ability made him feel conflicted with his expectations as a hunter of the supernatural. His blood ran with a being that he might otherwise have sought to hunt down- not to kill necessarily but it was still a strange thought.

As he grew older, he began to work more with his power and took notes of his abilities. At the very least, it would do some good to make documentations of the faerie kind. Oreades grew greedier too. He would hoard food and gold, finding it hard to let go on most occasions. The young dragon knew it could be the key to his survival in the Scarred Wasteland. Lonely, he also took to using his Court powers to trap a willowmane deerling after offering it some food. The poor creature, now named Marasmius, could never leave if it wanted to now.

In his travels he contemplated seeking out his family. Knowing what he could do however, he decided against it. Doing so may prove too dangerous should they disapprove his Court bloodline. Instead, Oreades took it upon himself to continue exploring and learning of his magical abilities. He did try to become less... greedy and selfish, as time wore on but going against that faerie nature was hard to get around. At least, it was until he ran into a traveling group of seers called Moon Oracles. It was then that he met Aurora, the youngest in the group.

Oreades watched her from afar, curious as to the strange shadowy beings that followed her. She seemed aware they were around but didn't seem to control them. The pearlcatcher decided to approach as they were packing to move on. He was charming, and admittedly used some magic to persuade them to let him tag along, and they allowed him to join. It wasn't like he was the first outsider in the family to join; there was another pearlcatcher, Aurora's father, who'd joined the group. He did his best to stay on her family's good side as he worked to learn more about her and the mysterious entities that followed.

The pair became mates after a while of traveling together and Oreades had been put in charge of taking care of the supplies and gold, something he was quite good at making sure they had plenty of. He liked studying their abilities and especially the things following his mate. The pearlcatcher admitted early on he couldn't do anything about them, they weren't of this world or anything he could manipulate with his own abilities with the veil. He did however, confirm he could always see them and that they didn't seem to mean harm.

This way of life felt fun. He could put his greed to good use and travel without being lonely. Marasmius was a good companion but the familiar couldn't exactly hold conversations. Oreades quite liked the idea of expanding the family lines as well. He truly loved Aurora, yet the information he could learn from adding onto his bloodline with more magic enhanced powers... It was just a perfect combination. Besides, it wasn't like they could get rid of him easily now. They'd tasted his food. They were stuck with him whether they knew it or not.
