Smithy

A quiet and reserved-type dragon, Smithy can often seem depressed. He's not really though, not so much anymore. He was towards the beginning of his life, as his only brother, not to mention his younger one, starved unnamed. The lack of a father also affected him. Smithy is getting better now, though.
On stage, though, he is a different dragon. He produces and directs plays, the only finished product being like a dragon version of Into the Woods, a production in which a lot of the clan takes part in. Despite being somewhat reserved and awkward when it comes to other dragons, Smithy loves to perform and feels at home on stage. Smithy is a talented actor and singer, so he sometimes acts in his own plays. He loves putting on concerts with Sweetmist and playing any instrument, although the lute is his favorite. (The clan tender still has yet to buy him one) Smithy is quite close with his sister and somewhat his mother. He loves them both dearly.

Smithy had a huge crush on a dragon in the clan for a long time. At first he was unsure so he didn't want to act on it, then when he was sure of his feelings he still didn't want to act on it because he was too shy. When he came to terms with his feelings, he'd realized that they've kind of been there the whole time (that she was an adult, anyway.) After more than 5 months after accepting his feelings, he finally decided to act on them. It was kind of a quick decision, but a good one. This dragon caught his singing an original song of his and alternating between a lute and a violin. She told him how beautiful it was and he stuttered a thank you. After some encouraging from Sweetmist, he decided to go after her. But before that, he went to the only dragon he could think of for advice, one who was mated with kids and close to his age, Delphiki. Delphiki immediately took him under his wing. Since Smithy wouldn't tell him who it was, he asked him to describe the dragon. This is what Smithy said:
"Well, I like how she's really nice and kind and-and really loving to everyone. I-I just don't know how she does it. And that's just so beautiful. She treats everyone like family no matter who they are. She sees the best in dragons when no one else can, not even themselves. She's so happy, too. She just radiates happiness without even like, doing it on purpose. She's just so amazing its a wonder to me how she does all of it. To boot, I find it kind of... curious how she has such a strong connection with her father, even when he's in Light, and yet I have a very weak one with my father, and he's here in the clan with me. Also to boot, I love how smoke looks on her antlers. It's beautiful.
"It's Bronzeclaw, isn't it?" Delphiki asked.
"Yeah." Smithy looked down. "I don't have a chance, right?"
"Of course you do! Don't say that about yourself, man. Look, I felt the same way about Itaya, and look where I am now! Even better, my dad felt the same way about my mom, and look where he is now! Tell you what, why don't you do it traditional style?"
"Traditional style?"
"Yeah, just propose to her by asking if she wants to be mates, but don't have kids right away. Just date. But if you want to have kids, you have to ask her dad beforehand. And if you do have kids, then you'll really be mates. And if you don't want to, just kiss or something to make it official."
Smithy was quiet for a while. "I mean, I guess that sounds alright. But I have to ask DreamEater?"
"Yeah, and you should probably ask Valencia too. She is related to her and in the clan, after all." Delphiki said.
Smithy looked up from the ground and was quiet for longer. "I'll do it. Thanks Delphiki."
But before asking Bronzeclaw, he turned to one more dragon, Serin. Serin encouraged him also, and said if it was anyone to be mates with his best friend, it would be Smithy.
So, he went to Bronzeclaw, gathered all his courage, and said: "H-Hey Bronzeclaw I want to ask you something.
"Yes?" Bronzeclaw said, looking up and smiling.
"Um, do you want to be mates with me? Like, uh traditional style?"
Smithy looked down and braced himself for rejection, but instead was greeted with a hug. "I thought you'd never ask, Smithy!"
And for once in a long while, Smithy smiled from antler to antler.
He afterwards told his mother, sister, and hesitantly, his father, and talked to Valencia about it. All were fine with it, yet he still had yet to ask DreamEater, which he would do later when he and Bronzeclaw decided whether to have hatchlings or not. But now, he had time to spend with his mate.
Smithy did ask DreamEater, on a beautiful day in August. He was quite scared, but approached mighty DreamEater anyways. Smithy introduced himself and said told the dragon a bit about himself. DreamEater pretended to be cold and discerning as a joke, scaring the heck out of Smithy, but then revealed a genuine happy reaction. Bronzeclaw, Valencia, Delphiki, and Winterblossom, who were waiting out of sight, were very happy and laughed a bit at this. DreamEater said he couldn't think of anyone better to be a mate to his daughter. The clan came into sight and introduced themselves. DreamEater was delighted to meet them.
Smithy now has two beautiful daughters and a beautiful, kind mate.
