Direau was the first adopted by Althea and Krenek and is a warrior who fights to protect the clan alongside Aurelia and Marek, whom he considers his sister and brother. He is on the Council of Elders, which is charged with governance for the clan, though he often defers to his sister's wisdom. He greatly enjoys training the younger dragons in the clan and is well known for being a pushover when it comes to hatchlings. On sunny days, he can often be found outside the entrance to the clan's cave sprawled out in the sun with a few hatchlings perched on his back; regardless of the weather he spends much of his free time helping to care for the clan's hatchlings.
