 One of the former statues brought home by Cortez and Bengal during the Dustcarve Expedition. She remembers feeling the Earthshaker's emotions, his stalwart desire to protect the world he loved. She took this idea and ran with it as information about Sornieth was poured into her mind, showing her the history of the land that was to be hers. Hers to protect. She would give her life for this place and the dragons therein. As soon as her stone casing began to crack, she was overwhelmed by her own sight and sat blinking in the dim light of the caves, adjusting to the sudden input of senses she'd never felt before. Though to be fair, she'd never felt anything before. As her outer stone continued to break off, she was approached by a Spiral and a Pearlcatcher, the first ones she'd ever seen, who were making strange faces at her. The Obelisk tilted her head at them, shaggy mane showering the stone beneath her with pebbles as they scattered from her fur. Once they introduced themselves, the other two dragons asked if she was alright, as she'd been staring off into the darkness for some time. Touched by their concern, the Obelisk decided immediately that these two would be the start of what she would protect. As she was distracted by her sudden emotions, the other two dragons asked for her name. She stared at them for a long moment, reflecting on her last moments wrapped in the Earthshaker's consciousness. When he had charged her with her sacred duty, what had he called her? Ah. "Dior," she rumbled, pleasantly surprised by the deep, rough voice that vibrated in her chest. That's what he had named her. And under that name, she was going to keep these dragons safe from whatever the threat turned out to be.

 Garments had proved an interesting experience for Dior as well. After returning with Bengal, Cortez, and another Obelisk named Ameliora, they had been offered a wide variety of adornments by a flittering purple Skydancer. Recalling the visions the Earthshaker had sent her, Dior recognized the perfect choice almost at once. Golden armor accented with delicate filigree, perfect for displaying her role as the protector of this clan. Adjusting to life in Ligare had been one thrill after another for the Obelisk. She seemed almost hatchling-like as she explored the Home Tree and the Branches, followed closely by a Guardian who had looked particularly nervous since Dior had arrived. Though, that could have been because she occasionally dripped gold from the furrows lacing her obsidian scales when her emotions ran high. Ligare was, as far as Dior was concerned, the most astounding place in Sornieth. The clan had welcomed her with open claws, immediately assuring that she had whatever she needed, including new habitations. Once she was settled in though, Dior decided to better acquaint herself with the dragons she intends to protect, a feat she is currently pursuing.
