Red's job is to make sure that every dragon in the clan could get lost somewhere in the wilds and manage not to get themselves killed. All newcomers to the clan must submit themselves to her tests before they are permitted to leave the lair alone. She is relentless, and Bavereon has asked her on several occasions to lower her standards. The majority of hatchlings live in fear of the day they are old enough to begin lessons with her.

Though not unkind, Red has no patience for dragons who do not try their best. She and Cole had a rather long standoff where she refused to pass him and he refused to exert the effort to pass.
