  • immune to Ebon strains
  • ousted as a Magpie immediately after hatching due to an unfortunate blunder; her wing was scratched by an eggshell shard
  • her adoptive parents were fortunately more curious than angered by her presence and elected to keep her status secret from the Rookery elders, and herself
  • Ruse is the name she was given as a tongue in cheek hint at her origins
  • she grew exceptionally close to Vulx, a younger brother in all but blood
  • upon awakening she was horrified to discover the illusion of her identity and even more terrified of her brother's disgust at her deception
  • she was discovered by a Crested amidst her distress and was in too much shock to disguise herself, immediately being attacked and chased from the Rookery
  • during the chaos her brother and parents caught wind of who was being persecuted and rushed to find her first
  • while her parents distracted and misguided the pursuers, pretending they never knew what she was, Vulx found her and the two escaped to the world beyond
  • Ruse had been heavily injured in the attack before and only made it to the Tangled Wood before succumbing to her wounds
  • desperate to save his sister, Vulx made a grave pact unbeknownst to Ruse...
  • all she knew was that when she awoke, she was healed flawlessly and sometime during her unconsciousness they’d gained a new companion in a strange Wildclaw called Puck.
  • before awakening she was obedient and very dignified as expected of her, after awakening (and Puck's terrible influence) she learned to accept her less scrupulous urges and did a complete 180, becoming something of a hellion, fond of pulling pranks, often changing forms to imitate friends or family members of her unfortunate targets
  • since being revived from the brink of death, she gained a curious following of Will o' the Wisps and formed a camaraderie with the fox spirits of the Tangled Woods who delighted in her foxlike abilities
  • she wears a wolf pelt to pay homage to her mentors without harm to the foxes, but also because she is simply too large to wear an honorary fox pelt
