I will learn. Learn how to form the elements. I want to feel everything around me. I am... the water, soaking the earth, breaking the air and devouring the fire. I am the river. From now on I am Shannen.

Shannen, born as Eowyn, was the only daughter of the king and queen of the nymphs. She grew up with rules and strict surveillance, while all she wanted was freedom. She was a lively child that did not want to wear heavy dresses and being teached how to walk and eat properly. If anything, she fought with the boys, learned how to use magic and stealing away from the palace to play in the forests.
When her parents became stricter, she finally ran away, only accompanied by her life guard Bryn, who also was a close friend of hers.
She never wanted to be princess, she wanted to accomplish something on her own, as a nobody. As Shannen.

After long magical training with the old earth-dragon Skkylar, Shannen became part of the Holy Council, where she met Niles. Although she often insulted him and tried to keep him away, she actually always liked him.
In contary to him she never really knew what she wanted in life. She went with the flow, training her magic skills and enjoying her freedom, but she does not have a real goal. Her biggest fear is becoming like her mother, a mere adornment of a king.

In the council Shannen often took sides with the dragon Bilal since her belief to protect the underground by sending Snow away and never let humans into their realm matched with his mindset. In the end this made her enemies with Anubis and Alvan who felt the need to destroy the disfunctioning council in order to defeat Samael. She was attacked by Anubis but was able to flee with Niles' and Bryn's help. This led her back to her parents to seek their help, but as soon as she understood the gravity of Samael's plans, she took Anubis' side and fought alongside him to protect the demon world.
She is always accompanied by spirits of servants, who swore to protect her. After their death their souls continue to stay with her. The spirits take the form of dogs. As her own appearance the dog's look change with the elemental magic she uses.
Mael is her fiance, later her husband. They like each other, but see each other more as sibilings than lovers.
Because of an misunderstanding she once fought with Heh, who defeated her in a very gallant way. Since that day she has a crush on him.
