About
One of the Frigid Recesses' two notoriously ferocious guards, Galactica fights with shadowy ice magic that's rumored to be able to freeze the sun itself. Protecting a place as malodorous as the Frigid Recesses is a difficult job to say the least, but with Galactica's fierce demeanor and dark magic skills, it was as if she was practically made for the job. But for a long time, Galactica didn't know what her purpose in life would be. An outcast since she was small, she really only had her siblings and pets as friends growing up. But she fell in love with dark magic quite early on, thanks to her sister's interest in it. Soon, she learned to embrace her status as the "weird kid," using her feelings of loneliness as fuel for wicked spells. For a time, she was happy with just that... until the subject of the Search came up. She knew she loved dark magic and that she'd pursue it no matter where she ended up, but the question of that "where" caused her great anxiety. When it finally came time for her Search, Galactica traveled all over Sornieth, but nothing really stood out to her as worth protecting. It wasn't until she returned home, defeated and depressed, that she realized her sister had disappeared during her time away. Worried and curious, she tracked her all the way to a hidden group of mountains known as the Frigid Recesses. A shadowy, unsettling place, it was home to all sorts of strange dragons that had withdrawn from society for one reason or another. Most of its residents practiced dark or forbidden types of magic, and each one was weirder than the last. Alongside her beloved sister, they welcomed her with open arms; and for the first time in her life, Galactica felt like she belonged somewhere. Naturally, she figured such a place was worth protecting with her life, and she remains there to this very day. Personality Galactica, having lived most of her life as a loner, tends to stay away from most other dragons. But around those she's familiar with, she can be quite talkative, though the discussion tends to shift towards magic more often than not. However, despite not being very sociable around most, she loves animals to death. She met her closest companion, Sewerdweller, while exploring the sewers under the Shifting Expanse during her Search, and they've been friends ever since. When she has spare time, in addition to further researching and improving her magical technique, Galactica enjoys sewing and crafting various accessories. Her creations are often cursed, twisted, and frightening to behold, but they seem to be fairly popular among the residents of the Frigid Recesses. Her coworker, Gale, is frequently used as a mannequin/test subject for her smaller projects, a fact he endlessly laments. She can also often be seen pestering her sister Evenfall; the two bicker a lot, as sisters do, but they diligently study magic together at least once a week. As for her other sister, Winterstar, they maintain a good relationship despite living in different places. She also has frequent run-ins with her brother Hypothermia, due to his lair falling into her regular patrolling area. Although they don't talk much, they have a mutual respect for each other's duties, and she'll occasionally bring him interesting books or leave him with one of her crafts. |
