______ Basik was planned to have a rather dim life. She was to be exalted to the ranks of the Stormcatcher, to be no more than a lowly servant. She was convinced it had been all she could do to help her clan, and while they said she could back out if Basik wished, she denied. She had no idea what to do with herself, and still didn't until it all happened.

______ Whether a chance of fortune or a dire circumstance, her clan had been attacked. Not by one of their few enemies- but instead by a fire clan. It was unknown to Basik if it had been a territory dispute, maybe a raid or perhaps an act of brutality and hostility. Whatever it was, they tustled with any lightning dragon they saw with no mercy. In the middle of the brutal war, (That the smaller lightning clan had been losing) another group emerged. An aid, an ally. Plague dragons.

______ Quickly after they had arrived, the fight was over. Basik did not know how, or why, but these dragons pummeled the ones that dared to pose a threat. Most were just random species, however mirrors stood out from the pack in terms of sheer quantity. She could spot one group that stood from the others. A group of pearlcatchers. Blue scarves wrapped around their chests, each adorned with a beasts skull that Basik had never witnessed before. When the fight was over, she couldn't help but request to leave with them instead. To learn their ways, to be one of them. If only she knew what it had meant for her.

______ "For the love of plaguebringer, you best be listening to my instructions." A voice spoke, jolting Basik out of her trance. Andromeda was glaring right at her, accompanied by Sandwing And Chrysocolla, while Peppermint and Yvaine were too busy admiring the vast plaguelands to pay her lecture any mind. "I am, I am." Basik said, her heart beating impossibly hard. Basik was worried it would burst out of her chest. "Calm your nerves, at that rate you'll scare them all away just from all that heavy breathing you're doing." Chrysocolla chimed in, careful eyes peering at the beyond.

______ "She is correct. Now, pay attention. I cannot help you on this journey Basik, you will have to hunt it down yourself. There would be no symbol to the skull if I helped." Chrysocolla said, her tail thumping on the harsh ground, the sun glaring at the six of them. "I will be fine. Why do I have to hear all this and not those two?" Basik snapped, her tail flicking to the fellow trainees. "They've heard it just as many times as you have. Now, hush. I can hear them coming." Andromeda said.

______ And right after the commandress said such a thing, Basik could see the shifting of the sands, clear as day. Soon, the famed monsters emerged, gigantic things with broad wings and massive antlers. And she was to slay one? Oh, how she stressed at such a task. "Pounce." Andromeda called, watching as the 3 students followed the harsh and fast command, leaping from their spot, flapping their wings as grasping their claws onto the backs of the creatures.
