The spawn of two powerful demons, Bloodshard lived up to his heritage. Wherever he went, death and destruction followed, and for this reason, many clans avoided him at all costs (and for good reason). For a while, Bloodshard was content with this life, fulfilled in his purpose of sending souls to their deities and caring not what reputation the rest of dragonkind ascribed to him. Violence was simply part of his existence, just as air and water were necessary for most mortal dragons. His skill in taking lives earned him a considerable rank amongst fellow demons, and he found that power intoxicating.
Until, one day, it wasn’t enough. Bloodshard found himself longing for some greater sense of purpose, a sense of belonging he realized he lacked. Even his own parents, deadly and terrifying as they were, had chosen to become members of a mortal clan. Unlike them, Bloodshard existed only for himself. He had no companions even amongst demonkind, for that was not their way, and the only mortal dragons he interacted with… well, things never ended well for them. That was when Bloodshard met Bluescreen. A formidable multidimensional traveler with terrific powers of his own, Bluescreen was not vulnerable to the kind of demonic destruction that inevitably befell Bloodshard’s victims. Intrigued by the mysterious Fae, Bloodshard stalked Bluescreen’s clan for weeks, lurking in the shadows, careful not to interact with any mortal beings. One day, he observed Bluescreen open a rift in time, a kaleidoscope of light bursting forth and shrouding the dragon in a multi-colored aura. In all his years as a demon, Bloodshard had never seen anything like it. It was a different kind of power than the one he possessed and yet, Bloodshard couldn’t deny the connection he felt with its wielder. Perhaps someone like Bluescreen would not run in fear from a demon. Maybe, just maybe, in his clan, Bloodshard could finally belong. |
