The most popular one is, that after loosing her mate and unhatched Eggs in a flood during a stormy night, she turned towards the tidelord. Heartbrocken she begged him to return her family to her.
Being unable to grant her wish, as the souls of her beloved have already been claimed by the Beyond, he granted her the ability to reclaim what has been lost to the sea, instead.
Thus allowing her to prevent others from suffering the same pain she did.
Nebula was enraged about this "gift".
She was supposed to grant others what was lost to her? She was supposed to watch other be happy as she suffered the loss of her loved ones?
She refused to follow the Tidelords wishes.
Too late the mighty god realized what a monster he had created, for she was already far from his reach when the pained ecchoes of those she choose to enslave instead to free, reached his ears.
