Biography

besnik crath

|| Background
In the fetid depths of the Hellwell Undercroft, below the halls where the clans of Plague hold their meetings and war rooms, there exists a sprawling warren of tunnels where some of the legends of the Scarred Wasteland, and many more unknown, lay in burial. It was in this labyrinth that Besnik was hatched, to a pair of catacomb tenders who had been keeping the dead for many decades. They grew up there, too, amongst yawning silence and the echoes of revelry from above, taught from a young age how to care for a body.

However, becoming a catacomb keeper was not in the cards for the young Besnik, who, surrounded by death, ironically became obsessed with life. They would often sneak up to join parties and meetings in the halls above, and when their magic showed great potential as a young dragon, they realized that they wanted instead to preserve the life of dragons instead of remembering them when they were gone. To this end, Besnik one day— during a particularly large gathering— left the catacombs and never returned.

Once on the surface, Besnik wasted no time in tracking down one of the Scarred Wasteland's few clans that was devoted to knowledge and settled down to learn, consuming books on anatomy and germ theory with voracious glee. It didn't take long before they were a talented surgeon and burgeoning healer, becoming well-versed in the flora of the Plaguelands and applying it to their craft.

Interaction with the Children of the Blood-Mark came purely by chance. During Besnik's time studying, their home clan hired a Blood-Marked Hunter— one who quickly became injured during a particular outing. Besnik saved the Hunter's life with some quick thinking, and in gratitude, he directed the young healer to his home clan, who needed those who were talented and pious to join the Veined Faithful. Surprised but flattered, Besnik agreed, and travelled to the Bone Spire within days.

|| Current
Amongst their new family, Besnik is the most skilled healer, equal to and in many ways surpassing even Asgari. They spend their time tending to the Children's wounds, and when not caring for a patient, is experimenting with herbs and medicines to see what works. It's undeniable that Besnik's influence has definitely decreased casualties and injuries amongst the Hunters.

Though it may not seem like it, Besnik is a very happy dragon right where they are. They are impassively quiet and soft-spoken, barely above a whisper at any given time, but this is merely a product of their upbringing. After all, growing up in the halls of the dead will linger with you, even if you don't intend for it to. Behind their silent behavior, Besnik loves their craft and the dragons they're around, and is more than content to linger for as long as the Children require their services.
