Ancient has been alive for so long that he no longer remembers his parents or his birth clan. He was an imperial when he joined the Poppy Clan, but before that he was something else, and even before that he was something else. Memories of his past degrade with each passing year, so every night he writes in his journals of what he and his clanmates did that day. That way, his books can remember for him, and day to day he can truly live in the moment without the fear of forgetting. Cherishing his children's visits, quality time with his mate, Lavender, and reading with his best friend, Synnefo.

His past may be quickly fading, but what never seems to fade is his sheer volume of knowledge about the eleven territories. He can rattle off in-depth facts about the most obscure of topics on a whim and every once in a while, he reveals incredible secrets that he doesn't even seem to realize are secrets. He spoke of the Veilspun dragons before the species revealed itself to the world. He informed the clan's scout, Chill, of a special wind current that carved a shortcut through the Twisting Crescendo. Many speculate what other fantastical, mysterious things he must know.
