Biography

The Matriarch
(pronounced kee-OH-a)

In short, a very businesslike, prim, and proper grand little lady who is secretly a gigantic worrywart. The clan is her Charge.

One of the founders of the clan and its ruling matriarch, Ceotha and her mate Earraedhris are the highest authorities within the clan of the Bramblewood Grove. It was she who, on her Search as a young adult Guardian, first found the great tree that serves as the cornerstone of the clan territory and claimed a space for her children and allies among the foliage. She is immensely proud at how her clan has grown.

If Earraedhris is the great tree with deep, stable roots that the clan leans on, then Ceotha is the den mother, the elder wolf who watches over her pack. She might not be a front-line combatant anymore in the Coliseum, but she is quick to leap between her clan members (or allies) and a threat with a warning snarl and flared, protective wings. Though small for a Guardian, she bears herself regally, and has been known to stare down much larger Imperials and Ridgebacks fearlessly. Ceotha also tends to handle many of the clan logistics; she likes to know what's going on in her territory in great detail, and figures the best way to make sure her exacting standards are met is to do much of the work herself. She would frequently work herself to exhaustion for the clan's benefit if it wasn't for her mate, who gently reminds her when it's time to back down or time to rest.

While not as skilled in the magical arts as her mate, Ceotha is a more than formidable opponent on the battlefield, with wings, tail, scales, teeth, and claws all hardened and honed from countless conflicts. Like many Nature dragons, Ceotha produces a natural venom; hers, which is secreted from two specialized fangs, is potently narcotic in nature. Those who have survived a bite from her say that they recall the pain from the bite, and their other injuries, fading quickly -- but the analgesia was quickly joined by vertigo, intense drowsiness and fatigue, and their vision fading away into a cloudy mist as unconsciousness threatened. Some survivors never recovered their sight.

Diluted, this venom can serve as a powerful analgesic... But, one must remember that Ceotha is, at heart, a warrior, not necessarily a healer. She has been known to drip some venom onto a badly wounded creature to take them back to the clan to be healed... But just as known for doing so just prior to a mercy kill. If you're a foe of the clan... Well. You know how venomous snakes can do a "dry bite," where they don't release venom? Might want to pray Earraedhris is with her to convince her not to rip you limb from limb.

Her familiar, Rhona, a Dunhoof centaur with a knack for politics, serves as her secretary and her liaison with the local centaur herds. The Bramblewood Grove has a very healthy population of centaurs living among the dragons, and positive relations with the local herds was one of the first things Ceotha sought as soon as the clan territory was reasonably established. It's not uncommon to find a centaur accompanying, assisting, or learning from a Bramblewood dragon, and a number of centaur rangers and druids (along with several Longnecks and other friendly creatures) patrol the forests and help maintain the territory.

Ceotha has a soft spot for poultry meat, especially seasoned with plenty of sage or other herbs.

Exalting Ceotha to the service of the Gladekeeper will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
