Stone of day, flesh of night. Etched from runes of since lost, with obsidian hide and crystal eyes, chosen from birth and served ‘til death. Gargoyles in name, but only just, three Pearlcatchers lay in rest. However, now four. Unlike the three who stood beside him, Bermuda was not born nor tasked with the Stone Hide. Bermuda was created -- morphed from the materials found in the tunnels connecting Shadow and Plague and birthed by the magic that not even the mad understood. Never to see the light of day, he only ever knew the cavern walls that grew higher and higher over his head. The dripping of escaped water a constant buzz within his ears (even once his scale turned to stone and the day was lost to him, that drip...drip... haunted his eternal fate.) Drip...Drip... He was awoken to the harsh light of a flame when his body came to. Faces that did not belong to the Skydancer he had become accustomed to knowing stared in awe at him. Those cave walls where decorated in a stark crimson that made him wonder what had happened to the Skydancer whose name he never did find out. Cautiously Bermuda was lead out from the tunnels and able to see the world for the first time. He was now the one staring off in awe. The Foxfire Brambles where not the prettiest of sights in the lands of Sorneth; but in that moment the clearing before him was the most beautiful thing he had ever laid his eyes upon. Tasked with the surroundings of the South Gate, Bermuda has begun to accept his fate. | xxxxx |
