 She was pure descended from their ancestors of old; the same Banescales that had drove many to sorrow and war, Whilst not born in their era, she knows their song well. The calls across time sink deep into her skin and, at times, she has to wonder if Calypso can feel it too. It is maddening some days; their screams a cacophony of pain and despair as the frozen forms of her parents linger over what would have been her nest had this have been a normal day. Others were a quiet lull of future promise, the softer shifting of that oncoming storm. Keres swears blind that can taste it in the air. Her gaze shifts to her side, watching the two curled into her hide. Surely, Calypso feels it… Her lips pull back into a faint growl, shadowed hues casting to the horizon. “You are thinking too loudly…” The other Banescale grunts, voice kept low to, presumably, prevent their Skydancer companion from stirring. “If I were to perish in battle, I would die in comfort knowing that there is another here to keep Serenade safe and well.” Calypso offers little response but a hard blink and a head tilt so Keres hisses, turning away further. Maybe she did not feel the bone deep stirring that she had. Why was she even surprised? “You are aware that it is closer to midnight than morning, Keres.” Calypso sighs, scratching her snout with the tip of her wings. “You cannot throw those comments out without letting me awake properly…” “Then forget I said anything at all.” A heavy exhale of smog escaped Calypso’s maw, eyes rolling as her head lifts to press her muzzle to Keres’ jawline. “Shut up and listen.” “I understand you and what you’re saying, I respect that.” Calypso sighs, lifting her wing to the cobalt form curled between them both. “I know that if I left or died, you would take care of her too but I also know that she would wither if either of us were to depart.” “I think-… As much as you are stubborn and irritable, we would make a greater unit together than apart. If you are watching my back and I am watching yours, we cannot be stopped or parted.” Keres offered a low hum of thought, allowing her gaze to rest on Serenade before flitting back to the other Banescale. Her terms were… agreeable and for an ally, Calypso was far from the worst to keep close to her heart. She would, maybe, go as far as saying that she was alluring in her confidence; two parts stupidity in her nature but two parts capable. Yeah, she’d do too.
