Biography

LIEV
THE SURVIVALIST

introverted - survivalist - protective

PERSONALITY
Liev often comes across as stiff and unfriendly to strangers. He's an introvert who doesn't make close connections easily, and prefers to spend the majority of his time alone or in the company of Frostbite. He's always been a little paranoid, something that has translated into overprotectiveness for the abberation; he knows he personally might not be strong enough to protect her if larger dragons decided she was a threat.

Since Frostbite's disappearance, Liev has been combing the woods around Stormview Mountain for her near constantly, only occasionally returning to Little Snow for supplies. A small group of other dragons searching for missing relatives has begun to conglomerate at the settlement. He doesn't often talk to them, but every once and a while one or two will insist on venturing out with him, and he can't turn down their heartfelt requests.

HISTORY
Born into a small clan of veilspun, Liev was never as personable as his clanmates. He had always wanted to venture out of the forest, away from his home, to explore the massive expanse of Sornieth beyond. Eventually, he was able to hitch a ride away from the Tangled Wood. His resulting tour of Sornieth eventually found him in the Southern Icefield.

Over his travels, he had picked up numerous skills, spells, and strategies to help himself survive in the snowy wastes, but it was hard. He lost some claws to frostbite one particularly cold night, and the weather was rarely comfortable even when he bundled himself up. He found the challenge of it oddly enticing: there was a certain rush to braving the harsh conditions and surviving. Eventually, he decided to stay.

Liev stumbled upon Frostbite in the thick of the worst snowstorm of the season while searching for a shelter out of the wind. Her appearance was fearsome, and for a moment Liev had the unsettling thought that she was a baby emperor, after a sort. But she didn't act violently, didn't attack, just whimpered and whined. In the end, he couldn't bear to let the child freeze.

That night was the beginning of a strange surrogacy. Frostbite was his size to begin with and quickly grew much bigger, but she latched onto him like he was her parent. Liev briefly considered leaving her with a clan so her life would be more structured, but as rumors began to spread through the local trading posts about an emperor running rampant in the Light flight, he knew he couldn't rely on outsiders to accept her. It would be up to him to keep her safe, keep her hidden, until she was old enough to handle herself.

Liev taught her everything he knew. How to stay quiet, stay hidden; how to divert attention from herself; illusion magic, warming cantrips, how to sew, how to cook, how to hunt. She was a rapid learner, and often what one head struggled with the other seemed to grasp quickly. Though he had originally kept her close out of fear for her safety, he grew to love her as a daughter, for all their fights and conflicts.

When she disappeared one quiet, unassuming night, Liev vowed to never stop searching for her.

CONNECTIONS
70257450p.png His traveling companion and adopted daughter, Liev will protect Frostbite at all costs. In the wake of her disappearance, he can only pray she has the skills she needs to survive until he finds her.
73960656p.png Of all the dragons searching the slopes, Cluaran ventures out with him the most. The gaoler is missing an older sibling, and has professed that their parents don't know where he's gone either. It isn't Liev's job to take care of someone else's unruly hatchling, but he holds a faint hope that if someone else finds Frostbite first, they'll keep an eye on her. Paying it forward by keeping Cluaran safe feels like the right thing to do.
