PERSONALITY & QUIRKS

Umiza is very sensitive to the world around her and observes everything. She knows that even the smallest bit of information can turn the tide in an argument and actively collects that information. Umiza is extremely outgoing and loves to chat with others. Her weathered appearance makes some hesitant to approach but Umiza confidently approaches them anyway. Her honest mannerism earns the trust of others and is the reason many come to Umiza for cases.
Umiza occasionally briefly leaves the Sanctuary to find her old troop and travel with them for a season before returning. She does this to catch up with her old family and to fulfill her urge to travel once more. Umiza has recorded many stories she's heard and cases she solved in an old grimoire that she has had since young.

ABOUT

History
Umiza’s parents gave her up almost immediately after her egg was laid, only telling the clan they gave her that there would be no child of the Plaguebringer welcome in their home. The Plague clan that adopted Umiza was really just a wandering troop of mostly Snappers. From a young age Umiza traveled with this clan and explored the world. She loved interacting with others and hearing their stories about Sornieth. She constantly asked questions until she could determine the truth in each story, preferring the honest and true story over the fantiacal one. Umiza made friends with everyone she met and her earnest view of the world drew many in.
As she grew Umiza’s pelt earned a weathered look from the constant travel but it wasn’t something Umiza particularly minded. Though as much as she traveled, Umiza did hope to find a clan to call home one day. It would be several decades until this wish became true though. Eventually Umiza left her troop and set off on her own as she grew bored of the sameness of their migratory path. She took a roundabout path that would eventually lead her to the Sanctuary but only after meeting several more clans and dragons.
Umiza joined the Sanctuary curious about the variety within. She soon fell in love with the bustle of the ever growing haven and the friendliness shared by all. Umiza became a lawyer after realizing her talent for finding truth in stories and preference for honesty would be a useful skill in a court. She’d serve as an excellent lawyer for years before becoming an Elder on the council and serving there as well as she does as a lawyer.
Umiza noticed during her years at the Sanctuary that there was an unusual amount of magic around. Wishing to find a reason, Umiza searched the Sanctuary’s territory for a reason behind the large swells of magic. She searched Spellholde at first but dismissed it as the main cause because of it being only founded within recent years and the magic had been around much longer. She stumbled upon the entrance of the source merely by chance, as Umiza had just been wandering around in the forest. The entrance to whatever it was scared Umiza beyond measure as the suffocating magics emanating from the underground structure breathed with the threat of the Shade. Instead of reporting this straight to the council Umiza went to the Log Keeper Lillya to ask if there was a record somewhere. While Lillya didn’t find anything she did recommend not sharing any of it with more than the rest of the council, not wanting those with ill intent to try and use the magics.
When Iridis joined the Sanctuary Umiza didn’t take much interest. Another Gaoler was rare to her, yes, but nothing special in the long run. It was only when he stuck around longer than a normal traveller did Umiza take notice. After questioning those that had seen him, Umiza learned that the older Gaoler seemed to be searching for something. She suspected the Gaoler of maybe trying to ruin the Sanctuary and brought her findings before the council. The council summoned and confronted Iridis and he shared his suspicions, it was Umiza who called the council and brought Iridis over to the side with Lillya.
Iridis’s reveal of his lifespan and possibly knowing what the structure was intrigued and surprised Umiza greatly and she easily volunteered to help search his collection of memories. Of course this decision led to instant regret at the sight of the scrolls stacked from floor to ceiling and the laborious process of moving the priceless artifacts to a wider area. Though getting the chance to question Iridis of his life did make the entire process seem worth it, especially when he questioned her in turn.
Umiza almost refused to go inside the prison when the group finally made it. After days of tirelessly searching Iridis’s scrolls they found what they were looking for and led them to opening the prison for the first time in centuries. Umiza stuck close to Iridis on the way inside and was quick to leave and let others deal with it. She was quick to return to her normal life after the entire experience was over, though was joined by the ancient Gaoler.
Currently
Umiza is still a lawyer and council elder at the Sanctuary to this day. She spends much of her time gathering evidence and preparing statements for her current cases. At home Umiza stills talks with Iridis about his life and has taken him as a mate. She notices that occasionally when he looks at her or their hatchlings his expression turns sad before he resolves himself and puts on a joyful expression. Umiza doesn’t ever realize why this happens but is determined to bring happiness to what seemed like a weary, and tired soul.

SKILLS & HOBBIES

Umiza's main hobby is browsing through Iridis's scrolls when she can, the stories within them holding more value than most would know. Though not really a hobby Umiza does whatever she can to reprimand Iridis from eating edamames as she dislikes how they smell.
Umiza is a brute when it comes to fighting, adopting Iridis's style of charging in and using her strength to her advantage.
