Do you know why Coatl consider those born with white feathers to be bad luck? Most scholars would say that it's because they look faded, as if sick. They are wrong. The real reason, long forgotten by the Coatl themselves, is because their ancestral nesting grounds are a thin spot for more than just magma. As long as Sornieth has had magic, things beyond the eleven elements, beyond all explanation, have been known to slip through the cracks. When an egg is touched by these energies, it can hatch... wrong. Omen is one of these not-coatl, with erratic patterns that make him particularly easy to identify. The dark ichor dripping from his eyes doesn't hinder his sight. Indeed, observing seems to be most of what he does. Follow unfortunate dragons from a distance, watch, and wait. If approached, he speaks in humming tones that resemble the Coatl language, but form meaningless gibberish instead of words. Those foolish enough to attempt a conversation find that nightmares and bad luck cling to them for days afterward. |

Those he decides to follow report similar events, growing worse until some major disaster strikes. It is unclear if Omen is the cause of these disasters, or just the herald. But the misfortune always seems to be oddly tailored to the recipient, and some have suggested that Omen's distant observations allow him to plan a fitting fate for his victims.
