Fitz has a very strong moral compass, and is fun to be around but generally pretty vigilant and dedicated to whatever task is at hand. He is very much a jack of all trades, very good at figuring out how things work even if he has zero experience with them. He also has a fairly firm grasp of magic, and although he doesn't have a lot of read knowledge on the subject, as with his handiwork he's able to figure stuff out on the fly, even if it's not perfect.
