Daughter of the deceased Queen Tyrant, brought through the portal at the end, and appearing in an entirely new dimension.
On a pedestal, she slept, steeped in magic until she was the last of it, and then finally stirred to Move to where it is safe.
With the softest vworp and briefest sparkle, she appeared into an entirely different universe. This one practically bubbling over in magic, more than enough to one day wake her. But not today.

"A black dragon egg, are you absolutely sure? None of the Flights have those eggs."
"I am absolutely positive. There even appears to be arcane magic within it."
"I do not trust that one bit, especially considering recent history." The director stands up, motioning for the other to lead the way. "Show me."

A small area was fenced off around a singular black egg. It did indeed have arcane magic within it, but it looked so wrong.
"We have to destroy it."
The researcher looked at their director incredulously. "Destroy it?!"
After a moment of hesitation, the director nods. "I think it's Shade-touched. Better to have no life, than live as one of those."
With a frown, the researcher - very hesitantly - agrees.
"Exactly. Now go get your colleague, we will need to prepare a small defence for if something goes awry."

Nothing went how the researcher had thought it would that night.
The director deciding to smash an innocent egg. Drawing up an exorcism and containment array. The chilling grin of excitement on their colleague's face when they offered to swing the hammer.
All of that was trumped by the egg disappearing before it could even be touched by the hammer.

They stayed silent the rest of the night and put in their resignation the next day.
They saw the shimmer of strong and pure arcane magic. They saw the sparks where it reappeared. Their pack is heavier than they're used to.
But, they muse, I suppose life does have a price to pay for carrying it.
With a snort at their joke and nary a glance backwards, they head off to find a home.
