Biography

Fortunate Tempest

Sintharia was born into a Lightning clan, of a Lightning mother and a Wind father. She spent her time as a hatchling crawling the cliffs of the Carrion Canyon, and tempering her growing wings against the winds that blew past her parents' lair. As she matured though, she felt the need to leave her home lair that every Guardian feels...The Search.

She prepared to tell her parents of her journey, accumulating a stockpile of supplies for the adventure. Her mother, Taima, nodded her head sadly as Sintharia told her of her plan. She knew the day would come when her daughter would take to the skies to find her charge. Sintharia was her seventeenth child, most of which were born Guardians, and it never seemed to get easier when they left the nest to pursue their fortune. Sintharia's father, Fortuna, stroked his blue beard and turned away. He rummaged around at the back of their cave and brought out a beaten bronze gauntlet. He placed it on the cave floor at Sintharia's feet. She eyed her father questioningly before slipping the gauntlet on, causing it to hum to life. Small pieces of metal and stone from around the nest skittered to the gauntlet, piling themselves atop each other until the thrumming mass resembled a small creature, its eyes bright with promise of its electrical properties. It watched Sintharia, ready to obey her will. Sintharia looked to her father and thanked him for the gift. He simply nodded. Sintharia turned back to the mouth of their cozy cave. Taima blessed her daughter's journey and nuzzled her youngling one last time before the spirited dragon spread her wings and vaulted from the cave, catching an air current and gliding into the hazy light of the afternoon sky.

Within two weeks, Sintharia had passed south into the Ashfall Waste, her wings carrying her over the fire and smoke. Native Coatls toiled below, flapping to and fro while gathering fireflies and fiery salamanders. The heat rising from below was almost too much for Sintharia. She soared ever higher and stayed at that altitude until she had reached the cool ocean south of the Flamecaller's domain. Her supplies had been running low for a few days, so she decided to dip down to the water to catch the glimmering fish. Naturally, she was an adept swimmer, despite having only the rare opportunity to partake in aquatic activities while living in the Shifting Expanse. Pleased with fresh supplies, she swam back to the coast off of the Blacksand Annex. Avoiding the currents of hot water and steam, she crawled onto the cracked obsidian and fanned her wings to dry them.

Looking to the sky, she saw a storm rolling towards the fiery realm, the sound of thunder upon the air. Sintharia sighed, deciding it was best not to fly in such weather, and buckled down to sit through it. The rain poured down on her, but she tucked her head beneath one of her wings and prepared to sleep, when she heard a pitiful shriek out over the water. One of her younger siblings, Nafisa, had apparently tailed her all the way from the Shifting Expanse. But it seemed that she hadn't noticed that Sintharia had stopped for supplies and to wait out the storm. Sintharia cursed under her breath as Nafisa dodged bolts of lightning, the hatchling buffeted by the sheer force of the wind. She was unable to dodge a strike and screeched when it seared her wing. The injured appendage proved useless for flying and Nafisa began her spiraling plummet to the sea. Sintharia took to the sky, her wings flapping mightily, but she knew that she wouldn't reach her sister in time.

Nafisa was just feet above the water when it burst below her, a blur of black and blue rising up to meet her with a roar. Powerful jaws closed down on her small frame, but without causing harm. The mighty drake rose from the depths, water pouring off of his wings in shimmering sheets. Sintharia dropped back to the beach as he swam up through the shallows, Nafisa dangling from his maw. He allowed her to tumble onto the obsidian sand, the little dragon protecting her burned wing. Sintharia stepped forward, reprimanding the young one for following her so far from home. She then looked to the dark Guardian standing in front of her, his scales as black as the sand they stood on. Glancing to the side, she thanked him for rescuing her sister, and apologized for the child's recklessness. The drake's white eyes regarded her coolly, his rugged beard still damp with seawater. He tilted his head slightly, allowing Sintharia to notice the dark scar across his left eye. He turned and waded back into the water and swam south to a place unknown to Sintharia. She almost followed him, but she needed to see her sister safely returned home.

Reigning mate of ShadowStrike and matriarch of the IceFall clan. She is considered one of the best huntresses in the lair, as she has no need to ever strike her prey more than once. She knows all, so secrets are best kept unspoken, lest word reaches her mighty nest and she hears uttered whispers upon the wind. At night, she takes some of the younger dragons out to stretch their wings. Even in the stormiest of weather, they can see the blue luminescence of the lantern on her tail.
