Biography
Rylen was once the powerful and very loved leader of Helix Guild but after an accident that killed Dai and Morgan he is a shell of himself. He lost most of his memories and lives alone far from the guild with his mate who is desperately trying to get her love to remember who he was.
Rylen has always had a flare for the dramatic. He's always been that way but he came from a clan of monochromic and dark colored dragons. Rylen was in the clan's night guard so he couldn't really show off how he liked to. He couldn't wear the flashy attention drawing armor he liked too so he used flashy dramatic attacks that would draw the enemies to him. It was risky sure but Rylen had the skill to back up his attention drawing attacks. He was incredibly skilled and was easily able to take down any foes drawn to him. However these flashy attacks put others around him at risk and that made him not to liked with the other guard members. Rylen became an outcast within his own clan and soon dreamed of leaving the clan to strike out on his own and find dragons who actually liked him.
The clan he grew up in started to have a food shortage. The clan was struggling to make ends meet so Rylen decided to seize his chance and leave. He spoke with his father and gave the excuse that it would be one less mouth to feed but even his father knew why Rylen wanted to leave. No one tried to stop him and Rylen left in the dead of night. His father saw him off with a warning. The outside world is not as kind to our kind. Don't let many dragons know what you are. You'll be hunted. Rylen took heed of the warning as he left.
He spent the next few years on his own just enjoying the thrill of fighting. He stayed mostly in the Arcane lands that bordered Plague and there he was able to hone his skills even more. He'd wander from town to town offering his services as a mercenary. He was quickly making a name for himself as a skilled fighter and mercenary. Dragons would search him out and ask for his services. One of these dragons was Dai. The large black and blue Imperial needed to head down to the Southern Ice Fields making this trip the longest Rylen had ever been on but he was confident in his skills and the pair set out. Dai was apparently a Seer heading out to help a clan in the Ice Fields right on the border with the Arcane flight.
They travelled to the border for a while together. Dai seemed to not know how to fight and that seemed strange for Rylen. How could a dragon not know how to fight? It was just strange but he didn't really care. More fighting for him then. It was mostly uneventful though. Dai had planned a route that saw very little beastclan activity. It was rather boring for Rylen but with Dai not being able to fight it was probably for the best. The pair spent most of the trip just talking and enjoying a leisurely trip. It was different that what he normally did but Rylen was enjoying the peace for once. He felt surprisingly at peace with Dai at his side. He wondered if this was what if felt like to be accepted. Unfortunately that peace wouldn't last for two long. Rylen didn't pack enough blood to sustain him nor did they run across enough beastclan to feed.
It would be about a week after he ran out of packed blood that he would start to struggle. He'd grown weaker from the lack of blood and need more pitstops to rest. Dai noticed that his companion seemed weaker and inquired about what was wrong but Rylen refused to tell him remembering his father's warning. A few days after that they were settled down for the night. Dai was sound asleep but Rylen was awake going crazy with hunger. He couldn't take this any longer. He needed to feed. He sulked over to Dai and hesitantly woke his companion but before Rylen could even say anything Dai was cutting his neck with his claws and offering up his blood saying that 'he's a Seer and Rylen can't hide much from him'. Rylen was wary of course but he needed to feed. He fed on Dai's blood but only took enough to sustain himself for the night. For the rest of the trip each night Dai would let Rylen feed from him and the pair grew even closer.
A while after that they arrived to where Dai said they had to go and the pair said their goodbyes. Rylen hung around the clan for a little while to rest but he really just stayed to keep being able to see his friend. He kept making excuses to stay until eventually Dai just asked him to stay until he finished then they could leave together again. The pair stayed together in the clan for a good few years. If you saw Dai Rylen wouldn't be to far behind. Rylen fell into a hunting and guard role within the clan and found himself enjoying clan life for a while but eventually he became restless. He wanted to get back out there and fight some more.
One day he went to Dai and told him he was ready to leave. He had to get back out there. It was driving him crazy. Surprisingly Dai agreed to leave with him. By this point Rylen had taught Dai some of what he knew but the Imperial was hopeless if it came to an actual fight. Rylen and Dai spoke about it for a while before they both agreed to leave the clan and head back out. They'd wander together again and Rylen couldn't be happier.
Before they could leave however a tiny Fae named Morgan sought out Rylen and Dai asking for their help. Apparently she had heard stories about Rylen and wished to join them. Rylen was hesitant at first. She was the smallest Fae he had ever seen. He was worried she wouldn't be able to keep up but she argued that she travelled all the way here by herself so she could handle it. After speaking with Dai Rylen agreed to let Morgan join them much to the Fae's delight. Now that everything was settled the trio set off.
